Coleman Hunting Checklist
Checklists are a good habit to get into when you prepare for an outing. Print this one out, make your own additions, and maybe you can avoid that, "Oh, no, I forgot..." scenario.
The Essentials
- All necessary licensing (stamps, tags, permits for access to private land, etc.)
- Fixed blade knife
- Folding knife
- Multi Tool
- Water Bottle with Beverage
- Food: Light Snacks or Sack Lunch, Energy Bars, Hard Candy
- Flashlight, Headlamp, or Lantern
- Fire Starting Kit: Butane Lighter, Cotton Balls, Strike-A-Fire or Trioxane Tablets, Fire Starter and Waterproof Matches
- Compass, Topographical Maps, and Portable GPS
- Whistle or Signal Mirror
- Binoculars
- Latex or Rubber Gloves for field-dressing or cleaning game.
- Trash Bags
- Extra Ammunition (including rounds for distress signaling)
Clothing
- Multiple warming layers with wind breaking outer shell
- Thin pair of poly socks
- Warm Gloves
- Insulated Waterproof Boots
- Blaze Orange outerwear (as required by the state in which you are hunting)
- Poncho or Rain Suit
Emergency Items
- First Aid Kit
- String or 550 Parachute Cord
- Emergency Blanket
- Plastic Zip Ties
- Emergency Heat Source (Disposable Hand/Feet Warmers)
- Medications (Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, Tums, Prescriptions, etc.)
- Shovel
