Rated 5 out of 5 by Geriatricsailer from Great cooler, perfect size Have had for around 20 years. I chill all and freeze some stuff. Use a 1 gallon milk jug frozen with water and 5 lb bag of ice. Keep it in shade or inside vehicle. Cover it up with blanket, towel, jacket, sleeping bag--whatever. Industry test is 2/3 ice cubes to 1/3 chilled product. But that doesn't leave you much room for your stuff. I have 1/4 ice and less than 1/4 frozen stuff. Ice in jug still in 7 days. If staying out longer, I dump water from cubes and add 10 lbs of ice--have room by then and need to keep my fish or ducks cold. You don't need anything better. Get a 52 qt, a 70 qt and a small cooler for easy access up front. I use the 70 for dry storage of can goods, crackers, bread, boxed stuff-helps keep from getting too cold or too hot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marshman from Affordable I used this chest on a 5 day duck hunting trip in South Louisiana. It held as better than any other chest we used. I highly recommend getting one & any future chest that I purchase will be a Coleman!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bigbrown from Works great! I use this cooler on at least two four-day camping trips each summer with temps ranging from 70-90 degrees. It does hold ice for four days on trip and would longer if needed. Don’t listen to the negative reviews. If you pre-freeze your food, pre-chill the beverages, pre-chill the cooler, keep in the shade, and use ice blocks along with cubes, this cooler works. I own two of these and until the roto-molded coolers came out these were hands down the best and still are for the money. Ok, it’s not bear-proof and the hinges are junk, but this cooler keeps the stuff cold!

Rated 5 out of 5 by PaulS from Holds ice very well This is a great cooler for the money. I've had one of these Xtreme 52 qu. coolers for several years now, it's the best cooler I own for holding ice. We've gone on extended camping trips and my experience is that it does hold ice and keeps things cold for 5 days or more.

Rated 1 out of 5 by lisa68 from Does not keep items cold and/or frozen for 5 days Incident Reference # 180709-000658 - The items I put in the cooler did not stay cold or frozen for the 5 days advertised. And keeping ice for 5 days is apparently not part of the warranty.
