Rated 4 out of 5 by from I support products made in the U.S.A. I bought this cooler 5 years ago at my local small time owner sporting goods store it works just great. I have to laugh at the comments from people who use ice chips. I freeze water in frozen plastic sealed containers and the use gel packs which work just fine. I travel to New England every summer. I just purchased the larger 48 Xtreme cooler and will take both to Maine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Affordable This was an outdoor cooler good for a couple of days. The cooler performed well for the price point it is at.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not keep ice unmelted for even 24 hours. I have the grey and oranger version of this cooler. I picked it for the size and supposed “extreme” cold capability. First it may keep food “cold” for several days but do not expect the ice or ice packs to remain even remotely frozen. They will melt. Six days in 90 degree temp, kept in the shade was the ultimate test. While there was still ice each remaining each day, it was all mostly melted after 24 hours. It was necessary to replenish the ice supply every single day of my 6 day trip. I do not keep drinks that require constant accessibility in this cooler. Just food. I froze everything ahead of time that could be frozen and pre-chilled the cooler over night before filling it. Even in the house the ice pack melted some. I even fashioned an insert with garage door insulation to place inside on top of the food and covered the cooler during the day with a layer of the same insulation. I was diligent in my effort to keep things cold and fresh. Chasing ice is a real pain and most places close to where I was camping ran out of ice due to the brutal heat forcing me to drive 45 minutes away to get ice every day. I had hoped for better performance but given the weeks worth of unseasonable (even at altitude in Colorado heat, it was too much to expect. I think it might work well under better ambient conditions. I don’t really know as most of the time I camp it’s in mostly very hot conditions here in New Mexico. The lid is very difficult to open if the cooler isn’t full. Definitely a nail breaker. The lid does not stay open and flops down while you are getting something out, but you can use the handle in the carry position to prop it open. Overall it’s better than the average cooler but not quite what I was hoping for. I would recommend this to a friend but with a caveat of less than ideal performance.
