Rated 1 out of 5 by Mark from Way Too Hot The burners on this cooktop are so hot that cooking is nearly impossible. And there is no way to modulate the flame to a lower setting. When asked about this issue, Coleman said "that's the way it is". The burners also make a high-pitched whistling sound that nearly drives the neighbors in camp out of their tents! Beware!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jim Cal from Save your money Great if all you want to do is boil water, there is virtually no low flame adjustment to do any type of simmering. I wish I knew this before I purchased it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Spencer from No control over heat, way too hot We go camping 6-7 times a year and thought we would spend a bit more to get a nicer stove since we will use it quite a bit. We got this a few years ago and aren't very impressed with it. It goes from zero to hero with a millimeter turn of the control knob which makes so you burn pretty much everything without properly cooking the inside of whatever your making. So then your constantly trying to turn it low enough to not burn everything but not too low because then you will lose your flame. But then at about the right heat, it makes a really loud shrill noise. Also, the control knob design is kind of stupid so ours have both been stripped out and we need to use vice grips to turn on and off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by FamilyCamper from Great heat, but no control. After needing additional burners, we purchased this based on good deal at Cabelas. We have been family camping and Scouts for 6 years so have good experiences of cooking outdoors. Initial thoughts: Great slimline design Good size burners Finish good, but razor sharp edge on inside lid ( I work in manufacturing and this would be an absolute stop to fix issue, should not have shipped in this condition) Wind deflectors effective Cooking: Heats water quickly, but uses a lot of gas. If you love using your percolator, it gets to the boil quickly, but here’s the catch. Little to no low flame control. You have to move the pot to one side while running wasting gas, to let it percolate. Soups, stews etc suffer from the same lack of low simmer capabilities. Pancakes, bacon and eggs on the griddle provided. Great fitting griddle just 1/2” to and 1” to close to burner because again no low temp control on the burner. Bacon is great, but need bread to soak up the grease as you cook- great bacon bread. Eggs cook to quickly as with pancakes - need low temp control. I can only assume the design team was challenged with a water boiling test as the reason behind development of this burner. They need a hybrid design that incorporates a fine burner element so to be able to cook. Recommend pulling out the A3 and starting with the customer focus. Hope this helps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Thataintlivin2 from "The burner" Bought this as an upgrade from the disposable butane can type Cooker and was impressed by its looks and neat even got the carry bag for it... But..!,! .... When it comes to cooking its WAY TO HOT. the regulator must be not set right or something I put on a full cast plate and fill it with Sausages (around 30) and burn them with out even trying. It will not go any lower on the dial... Plus if you are boiling water and do deliberately turn it up (barely half way) it starts to let out a horrifyingly bad screaming sound.... Not Good Coleman..... Not Good... you should look into changing the preset regulator on the adapter pipe its not right... Fix this and it will be a great little unit... Do it Coleman. Fix it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dman from Great quality after 3 years of use Not sure why people seem to think you can't turn the heat down. We slow cook pancakes all the time on the included griddle tops. The FyreChampion has been great for everything from soups up to doing full boils on a single burner. Yes it takes time to get a boil going, but it worked and once boiling kept a boil while we added all the meat/veg. Only time we had any concern was the whistle under certain conditions. This can be resolved by turning the heat up or down a little. We have used the FyreChampion with 1lb camp bottles and a 20lb bottle with the appropriate hose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by heathy from great cooker this is overall a great cooker, I shortened the gas connecter as i'll never use a disposable cylinder and thought the long hard pipe put to much strain on the gas line assembly. the latch for the lid is a bit poor but overall it's the equal hottest and best camp cooker I've seen.
