Rated 1 out of 5 by from Burner dials are extremely difficult to set It's impossible to set the burner dials on anything except extremely high heat or off. You can't set them to any type of simmer, or even medium heating. Very frustrating!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good Bought the stove last fall used maybe 8 times now lights and goes out. I assume the regulator is bad already, pretty sad no more Coleman products for me I will fix my old white fuel stove and use that. It’s a shame that a 40 year old stove still works and a new one dosnt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! My family has been using Coleman camping gear for 50 years. Growing up my dad had a Coleman camp stove that worked great. I bought this to take on my first camping trip in 30 years. I am a cook by trade and of course assumed cooking duties. This stove performed above all expectations. I cooked on it every night we camped.. 6 nights. I also heated water every night for dishes. I had no problem with obtaining a low heat setting at all. It is easy to use. No assembly required and sets up in seconds. This is a good investment for anyone who goes camping, hunting or fishing. It could also be used in a natural disaster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very useful When we had no power for 24 hours, it was just the thing to cook breakfast. And we will use it camping in the summer. My old one did not do very well and it has been with me 50 years in Alaska and now in SC.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Full Blast or Nothing At All I've had my 2 burner stove for a few years now and find myself avoiding using it because it burns everything. Except water - it's great with water. The inability to set the flame low to properly fry eggs or pancakes makes this product a hard pass for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Quality Control I bought this stove online from Walmart and was very disappointed that it had a bent burner. The right burner is bent upwards and close to the cooking grill. The reason it's bent is a large divot in the bottom of the stove that had to come from the manufacturing process. Others on the Walmart site have reported the same problem as well as customer service when we called them. We've had coleman products that have lasted 20 years and never let us down in an emergency. This really hurts since we chose coleman because we trusted it. We're gonna return it and buy one in store but I'm not leaving the parking lot without checking the stoves quality. Also, the hinges bend really easy so be gentle with the lid, we didn't know this and had to gently bend it back in place to lock the lid down.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Flame Adjustment Not Good This Coleman Classic Propane Stove seems to operate at two flame levels: high and higher. It isn't easy to set and keep a low flame on this camp stove.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from the Classic propane Stove temp control is weak I have used this for 4 summers and I like its size and wait. Also it does OK when used except for the heat controls (dials). They both only have a 1/2 to 1/4 turn for regulating the burners. This doesn't make the unit unusable but very temperamental and very difficult to regulate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheaper made than the older Coleman Stove I had. It did not take long to break the slim aluminum regulator arm. The best stove Coleman made, was the Electric Ignition two burner stove. That one had a stronger and flexible connection to the regulator. I can only recommend the Electric Ignition model number: 5435A700, it lasted for 30+ years and finally broke down recently. I’m trying to find another, but am afraid they don’t make it any more. Coleman, hopefully you have not gone Chinese like many others. Not interested in trying to fined a lighter every time I want to start this stove.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dangerously poor quality I bought this stove from Walmart for a camping trip. I had the same issue with burners that others have mentioned but what was more concerning is that the burner knobs METLED OFF while I was cooking and I was unable to turn off the propane!!! I did NOT have the burners on full blast, they were relatively low and the knob just melted. I got a wrench and managed to turn the metal pin, but I could not get the propane flow to stop even after turning it as far as I could with the wrench. There were flames coming out the front of the unit and from the side as well when I tried to disconnect the propane tank. It was terrifying, I was very close to calling the park fire department before I finally managed to detach the tank and the flames went out. Needless to say I will be returning this and will be very hesitant to use Coleman camping gear in the futute.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cost Friendly and durable! This is a great go-to camping/tailgating stove. I've had mine for over 5 years and I've never had an issue with it. It's been banged around a truck bed, used in the rain and snow, been at the beach and in the mountains... it just never quits. Only thing that keeps me from giving a full 5 stars is it's tough to get a good low-flame setting for just simmering food in a pan. Other than that, it's near-perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Coleman is losing its quality I am super disapointed with the stove that was just sent to me. The item delivered was damaged goods before it was even mailed to me. I can tell because the stove was damaged but the box it was shipped in is fine. I want my money back. Where do I send this trash you sent me back to so I can get my money back?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tough to regulate I have been using a Coleman liquid gas stove for many, many years. I received a new propane cylinder stove recently. The main difference between the two is that the propane cylinder stove will not stay on a low burner. I think the propane cylinder pushes the dial up so that it goes back up to a high burner. Great to boil water. Not great for eggs!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but no temp control We purchased this a couple years ago for summertime camping and have always been extremely disappointed in the lack of temperature control. It's either rocket high or off, nothing in between even though it's supposed to be controllable. I'm hoping to find out what the fix is for this flaw so that we can have a properly working stove?
Date published: 2020-07-22
Rated 2 out of 5 by from poor gas control I've had Coleman liquid fuel products my entire life (over 50 years). The first propane Coleman product I bought was this stove, as it doesn't require pumping, a great pain in the middle of meal prep (especially with liquid in a saucepan). The downside to the stove is the unreliable, fickle gas control for each burner. The controls invariably "creep up" to increase the flame, which is a nuisance. My gas dealer looked at the set up an advised that there's no "fix", save a replacement stove with more precise controls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Little Stove On a recent camping trip to the boonies, I discovered that'd we'd left our stove back at home - a cheapie to get us through the trip was in order. Well, the Coleman Classic Propane Stove came to the rescue! I was thankful to locate a stove at a local store, but for the price I was expecting a flimsy little flame thrower -- after all, you get what you pay for! Guess what? This little dude is a first-class camping stove. There are no frills, that's for sure, as the appearance and function are both quite simple, but this little unit can cook. I found the construction to be very sturdy, without being heavy, plenty of room to hold a couple of skillets, and more than adequate wind protection. What I wasn't expecting was the ability to run a relatively low flame that would cook bacon to perfection, and the stove was quiet! So many propane stoves today sound like a jet engine when you're cooking, but not this one. Also, you can also dial it up and boil water quickly if necessary. I kept the stove when we returned home, and why not -- it's a great little stove!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable Year after Year I use this classic Propane Stove every camping trip. It is set up in my kitchen area. It has held up to years of use and never fails me. Won't go camping without it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rusting parts We purchased the stove a couple of years ago and used it a handful of times. Today, after one year of last time usage, we opened it to discover that it had several parts rusted, which is surprising when the product was designed for outdoor use. We are very disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design flaw in newer stove design! I just bought a classic design Coleman propane camp stove to update my old one that has been sturdy and trustworthy for many years. But i was disappointed in one thing about it. The old style that I had before had a neat storage trick for the regulator where the small end goes in the hole in the stove, and the large end nestles between the grill rods so that it does not move around or rattle when transporting. The new one is just a bit taller so the grill does not hold the regulator in place. The little hole for the small end is still present, but the regulator will not stay tucked in and moves around inside the closed stove. Perhaps I'm missing something about a new way to store it? Otherwise, the quality appears to still be very good. I liked the older style of latching the outside of the stove better as well, but not a big deal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not enough power for cold weather cooking I tried making coffee on the stove using a percolator. It was a 10 cup pot with only 4 cups worth of water in it. It was about 30 degrees out. With the burner turned all the way up It would not heat the water enough to get it to percolate. Also, the adjustability of the gas flow is poor. May work okay in warm weather, but I think I should have gotten the white gas stove..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, works great and great value Used it 2 during summers of camping 2020/21, probably 30 uses and so far not a single problem. Yes the flame adjuster is touchy when trying to maintain a low simmer flame but I just watch whatever I have on a bit closer so don't burn or boil over. Really hard to beat for the price point (hint look for $10 off Walmart sale), does what I wanted it to do, cook food and boil water.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inoperable stove and lengthy return process. If I could give this no stars, I would. Ordered this basic camping stove to replace an old one. The burners are bent and sit crooked so are inoperable for cooking. Also, the wind guards were not attached to the stove. My husband has had numerous phone calls and emails with customer service and we still have no return authorized for this faulty item.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mine has worked flawlessly, so far... The caveat is Propane is my secondary fuel choice. I also have a 424 dual fuel, and a 425e Coleman Fuel stove that I prefer. However there are times I prefer propane such as group trips, and emergencies like the February 2021 ice storm that hit Texas and took out power to my electric stove for a week. I bought mine in 2018 to replace a different brand that had a regulator fail that was irreplaceable and the MFG had gone out of business. I really wasn't expecting much from this stove. Is it as easily adjustable as my 424 or 425? Nope. But then again I have no expectation that a propane stove will respond the same way a liquid fuel stove would... Liquid fuel stoves seem to me at least, to respond slower to valve adjustments, thus seem to be easier at least for me to get to a very low simmer. This stove WILL do a simmer, but as the burners sit so high in the stove compared to the liquid fuel stoves, even with the wind guards in place, it is easy to have the burners get blown out. This would happen with ANY propane stove that sets the burners high like this. Which is almost ALL Of them, so I can't fault this stove for that, I just configure my camp kitchen with this in mind. I can go from barely lit, to a full on burn with easily controlled graduations in between, just being careful how fast I turn the knob, it is super easy to go way past where you intended. This is after all a valve knob, and not a temp selector like a residential stove. I typically run this off of a hose and BBQ tank with no issues whatsoever. The hinge is smartly placed, such that if I were to use a large accessory such as a Coleman Folding oven, or the drip coffee maker, they actually fit, unlike on my liquid fuel stoves... I would expect the higher priced models like the Triton to be easier to adjust / get a fine flame from. I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 due to 2 design issues that bother me. #1. The gas control valves are both on the same side of the stove. They should each be on the side of the stove with the burner they control. Easy enough workaround, but just weird engineering thatis also easy enough to cause the operator to turn the wrong valve control. #3. This is common among propane stoves, but making the regulator / tank adapter sit off to the side of the stove on a metal pipe. And then for those of us users that use things like, oh... the Coleman Pack Away camp kitchen, the stove support doesn't support the bottle, making me paranoid it will break the line and cause a dangerous propane leak. I don't think they should include, but Coleman really should offer a relocator adapter using a hose that will allow the operator to place the fuel line to the side elsewhere and support it when using camp kitchens like this. Or redesign the camp kitchen to support the stove + fuel bottle. IF you get one of these stoves that gives you simmer problems, call Coleman customer care. They have been very helpful for me with some weird issues over the years and I am sure they can sort something out for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cheap stoves This stove is a great cheap stove when I’m camping I’m not making a Michelin three-star meals. The stove does simmer nicely if your tank is reasonable full and not running on E. Also you are camping and not at home with your $3000 stove. Don’t be a snowflake and be happy its cooks your meals in the middle of nowhere lol. Love Millennial
