Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase Experience and Great Product! Purchased a Coleman Sportster 533 Series white gas stove and the purchase through Coleman’s site was easy and at the best price! Coleman builds quality, durable equipment and that’s why I purchased this stove for my son. I would purchase direct from them in the future and recommend their site to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for overlanding I am highly impressed by the quality and craftsmanship of this stove. I love that I can use unleaded gasoline because this gives me greater flexibility on long excursions to remote places. I use this outside my Jeep camper and love having one single fuel. The stove functions very well and I can boil water for a cup of tea in 2 minutes flat on the medium setting. I use a GSI outdoors 2 liter collapsible pot, which fits the stove perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Technology that has been dependable for 75+ yrs My family has been using these types of stoves since WW2, now 4 generations of campers, from my Grandfather to my grandkids. I myself for over 50 years of Boy Scouts, car camping (428 3-burner), and backpacking(533 single burner). For the dual fuel models, I use an "Amish Mix" of one part Coleman white gas to three parts no lead regular gas, which is much cheaper. This keeps the generators from fouling as quickly, so I only clean them once a year, during the off season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A liquid stove that can really simmer I've been using this stove for the past month on 3 camping trips and I can't say enough about how happy I am with it. I like having the ability of a liquid stove that can truly be set to simmer. I was glad to find that the stove was still being made as there were many rumors online that it was discontinued.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent stove Had the original stove, it lasted 40 years, just picked up this one. Very pleased, very verstile and portable. Only minor draw back: I can't find a case for it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 35 Below zero Last weekend I confirmed that this stove would operate in the -35 to -40 degree range. I have purchase a similar stove in 1982 that I still use. I keep these stoves as back up heat sources in my trucks or as a stove while snowmobiling. At -40 it does take a bit of effort to light the stove; this must be done outside or on a non combustable surface. It takes approximately 5 minutes for the generator to heat up and work as designed. Fuel does spill onto the body and the fire gets out of the fuel bowl. The old stove did the same thing so no worries. The old stove was not fired up in 10 years. It took a little while for the rubber to stop leaking but it is working perfectly now. It is easy to get spare parts if required. The old stove has not needed any parts. Having the ability to use gasoline is a plus. Propane tends to gel up around -40 making it a useless fuel at these temperature. The old stove spent 28 years in the box it came in. It spent approximately 15 years riding around in the tool box of my truck. Except for some rust in the fire bowl and generator tube it is in amazingly good shape. I will tape up the box for the new stove and use that for a container.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and easy to use. This stove is great for canoe trips and backpacking trips. It;s compact, easy to use and burns with both a good hot on the high setting, and a good simmer when turned down. It's remarkable durable and can continue to work well even if it gets banged up during travel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Workhorse This is truely a workhorse for outdoor cooking. Simple bullet proof. My only issues are that it gets really hot and needs a better ability to regulate the heat output. I have been using white fuel appliances for years and this is another great product from Coleman.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, efficient stove I have 2 of these stoves. I use them camping and in power outages to cook with. They work beautifully and produce comparable heat to my electric stove. After initial heat up 3min the flame is fully adjustable from summer to full hot. Also on a tank full of Coleman fuel or 87 octane gasoline the stove runs for hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around little stove Have used this stove for motorcycle rides and camping and haven't had a problems with it after 4 years. Calling it sturdy or reliable is an understatement. Have recently made a PVC carrier for it to also store a funnel and siphon hose although it isn't needed for protection of the stove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic quality Awesome, classic stove. Great for boating or as a 3rd burner when using another Coleman stove. Difficult to find over the past few years so grab one when you can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect companion to the duel-fuel lantern. If I have lantern fuel, I have stove fuel. If I have stove fuel, I have lantern fuel. See how that works? As for the stove itself, it delivers more than enough BTU for quickly heating cast iron cookware and has a nice clean burn. Big punch for small size. The price, convenience of duel fuel, and performance make it a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mine will NOT "simmer" I bought this 533 to replace my trusty 400a, which has mysteriously disappeared (likely shanghaid by one of my kids). Right out of the box I was impressed with the overall construction of the 533, it's definitely "old school" Coleman i.e. built to last. Firing it up with a fresh tank of good ol' Coleman fuel I was -not- impressed with the burn. She fired up right away and as soon as the generator heated up there was that classic Coleman "band of blue"...BUT...trying to adjust the flame was something of an issue. It is impossible to set this stove to "simmer". It is full bore or nothing. I'm -hoping- that as the stove gets broken in that this little quirk will disappear (or that someone from Coleman reads this and provides me with a "hack" to fix the issue). If neither occur I fear this stove will eventually take a place on my shelf of broken camping toys. Moderately disappointed and recommended with slight reservations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now I have two I bought one of these dual-fuel single burner camp stoves in 1996 for outings on my daysailer. Since then I’ve upgraded to a much larger sailboat, but I still use this stove to make coffee and to cook my dinner. The valve leaks periodically, so I have to replace the O-ring from time to time, but otherwise it has been trouble-free. I tried to buy another one of these for a few years, but they’re generally sold out, and there’s often no advice on when they’d be back in stock. So when I saw that I could buy one once again, I did just that. I always wanted to have a spare in case the original one got clogged or stopped working. This new one will stay in the box until and unless I need it. I might spray it with oil to prevent corrosion

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very well made For all the camping I do this was one of the best stoves I have purchased. Easy to light and gets very hot quickly. Small enough to put in the Jeep and take camping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy, simple and works with unleaded gasoline Had only been able to “play” with it once, using regular fuel... I am extremely impressed by the ease of use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Camp Cooker I use this little dual fuel stove here at Camp Gospel to cook ALL of my meals and pots of tea masala. I cooked many delicious Thai curries on the same. Stove overall is fine save for the flare-ups. Not sure if I am either overfilling the tank or overpumping the stove. However this stove seems to "flare-up" at times. I use quality BP gasoline or other top-tier gasoline to run my stove. The flare-ups seem to come and go. Not exactly sure what is the cause of these. But I overall do like the stove and keep it running as best as I can. 🙂

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect backup stove for the hurricane box. Great little stove, hard to find sometimes. I use it more as an emergency backup stove than for camping. We experience hurricanes quite often and just knowing that I have this stove and a percolator coffee pot on hand gives me piece of mind. The fact that it uses white fuel or even unleaded gasoline allows flexibility. I never store it full of fuel and have no doubt that when I need it, I simply pour fuel and light it up. I recently bought a second one for a backup to my backup. Two is one and one is none, right?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Your best choice for a one burner in camp, around home during weather outages and catastrophies, and in your bug out gear to survive global collapse or a zombie apocalypse. This, in my opinion, has always been, and remains, Coleman's best product. Buy two, just in case they discontinue it, which unfortunately they did with their Powerhouse 414 two burner (the 424 is built as well as the 414, but is smaller and struggles to fit a large skillet centered over a burner without manipulating the adjacent windscreen).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hope it's as good as my 1966 that's still going I didn't buy this to replace my Father's 1966 stove because that still works as good as it did when he got it, I brought this for my 14 year old son so he can enjoy hunting and cooking his soup just like I did at his age wile hunting..... I just hope it's as good as the 1966 stove I have..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove! My family used to have the 2 burner suitcase style Coleman stove. Since I am the only one outdoors these days, I picked this up. Works great! I only have to carry one fuel type for my lantern and stove now, plus, this thing gets hot fast! Works very well, love the Coleman brand!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but too heavy for backpacking I have had two older Peak one stoves and love them for backpacking. They are reliable workhorses and i prefer using white gas and no disposable containers Fuel and stove all in one unit. I decided to get another on while they are still being made. Unfortunately the new ones are too bulky and heavy. I could never afford the weight of this thing on the trail. I will probably never use it, not going to bother paying for shipping to return it. I am sure it works just fine but does not suit my purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried, Trusted & True Started using this Stove for my cross country road trip and loved it for the fact that it is vey compact, could use gas (fuel) from my jerry can and never had a failure. I have been using this for most of my camping trips for the the last 8 years. Love it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I WILL NEVER BUY THIS AGAIN I now had two of these. I travel long distance internationally on my motorcycle and feed the stove with unleaded fuel from my tank. They both behaved the same way. 1. After a while, they only produced a yellow flame, ruining my pot and also whenever I would touch the pot, my hands would be black. I called Coleman and they told me that I overfilled the stove, which is total nonsense. There is no mark how high to fill it. Typical case of "blame the customer". See a previous review for the same issue. 2. In both cases, the pump failed mid-trip. With the first one, the piston came loose, with the second one, the piston got stuck. I'm done with this product. The idea is great on paper, and for the short time it works, but there is no reliability, which is so important when traveling, especially in foreign countries. I bought and MSR WHISPERLIGHT INTERNATIONAL, DUAL FUEL. Same weight, more expensive, better reliability, at least by reputation. Don't mind paying more for reliability. COLEMAN: Shame on you for putting out such garbage, when your other products are OK.
