What does it need to be sitting on while in use? Can I set it on my wooden table to brew? Would it melt a cooler lid?

A wooden table should be fine. Probably not a cooler lid. After initial brew, I turn down the heat to low, which is still plenty hot.

We lost the black clip that is under the filter basket, that stops the flow during brewing when you take the pot off the unit. I have not seen a way to replace this clip. Do I need to purchase a new filter basket, or is the clip sold separately?
