Rated 5 out of 5 by Phydaux from Performs as well as any "High end" cooler I camp way more than the average person and this is a workhorse. Need your ice to last 4 or 5 days? This will do it. Don't waste 350 bucks on a yuppie cooler when you can get this for 1/4 the price. I've had the free use of one of those high end coolers and would never spend that kind of money on one. Set it a little too close to the campfire one night and the side facing the fire was hotter than all get out but the inside was cold as could be. Great set of handles. Doubles as a camp chair and a step stool in case you need a little extra height to reach something. The latch keeps out the squirrels, coons, dogs and I can honestly say of the hundreds of times I've camped in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky I've never had a bear get it open! Buy this cooler and hand it down to your children and grandchildren.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jason from Disappointed in cooler The liner on the lid come off. I tried glueing it back but I just give up. The worst part is the latch was installed backwards so the cooler doesn’t lock. I wish I could remember where I got it so I could replace.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AndreaK78 from Not quite as expected Purchased this believing it was like the old steel belted coolers we all used way back when. Not the case. The exterior is rough, not smooth. Decals will not adhere to it. The bottom portion is plastic. The walls are not as thick as I expected so I’m unsure how the temperature will hold when camping. I do like the handles and the locking mechanism. I purchased for my hubs for Fathers Day. Love that it’s made in the USA and that’s a huge reason for the purchase

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kodac48 from Misleading I'd been wanting a cooler like this for long time. My company gives really cool awards from a catalog for every 5 years service. Each time the awards are more expensive. For my 15 years service I chose this cooler because it stated up to 4 days staying cold. It doesn't. Ice is melted by the end of 1st day. Still cold into the 2nd day but you have to drain water and add more ice. My lighter plastic cooler with wheels did just as good. Soooooo disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by James1986R from Looks neat, not durable. I remember growing up and having these around our house. They were great back when they cared about quality. Keeps ice as expected but two weeks after I bought it the latch broke. Customer service offered to sell me a latch kit. Another disappointing product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rich1 from Pretty and does the job! We were camping and wanted a cooler for picnics. We bought the turquoise and placed ice in it the first night. During the week long trip, that ice lasted about 3.5 days. The cold water would have kept stuff cold for a while longer, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rar1 from just what I wanted I grew up with steel sided Coleman coolers in the 60s and 70s. I recently dug it out of my parents' basement, but the plastic was smelly and brittle, and not really usable any longer. I was happy to be able to still buy a classic style steel sided cooler. Thanks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Silverchex from Stays cold! I've owned this cooler for several years. We've taken it camping, tailgating, while hauling horses out on the road. It's the only cooler that keeps our drinks ice cold for days. If I want a slushy drink this cooler delivers. I just have to bury everything in ice from the beginning. Not enough and you won't get the temp you want. We set the things we don't want to freeze on top. My only negative about this cooler which I feel Coleman needs to address is the inner lid and latching system. The latching system broke, I would replace it but the lid is coming apart at the hinges. Incredibly it still freezes, I have to use bungie cords to latch it down. Coleman please make a better lid and latch, this is the best cooler out there for keeping things cold with less ice refills!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Coolerman from Poorly made with a ridiculous price tag! I have been around this model cooler for about a decade and they keep getting cheaper and easier to break. Coleman as a whole does make products worth purchasing but this cooler is a flop. I wish people would stop buying this garbage cooler and read the reviews before having bad experiences later down the road. I know the cooler looks appealing but it does not keep ice for a full day. The latch breaks after 6-8 months. The top will just fall out due to the moisture weakening the glue. And the patches that hold the lid on, will come loose and again another home repair. I have a marine cooler made by Coleman and it is not only better quality but holds ice for 3-5 days easy. It I also priced around 80% less than this model so it’s unfortunate for aesthetics, this cooler is still on the market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ehop from Favorite cooler I own two of these and use them regularly. I have used them on 4-5 day camping trips in the middle of summer and only had to refill with ice once. If you properly ice down the cooler and put drinks in them that are already cold it will hold ice for 2-3 days. They aren't going to hold ice as long as the modern rotomolded coolers but they do not cost as much and aren't as ugly. Would give five stars but the latch isn't as reliable as the version my dad has from the 70s.

Rated 5 out of 5 by acoffeejunky from Durable, affordable and super nostalgic We have a 1969 Aristocrat Land Liner and didn't want to put "new" accessories in it. I purchased the green so it would go better with the appliances in the camper and it is almost the exact same green as the one my parents still have (30+ years old). Lightweight enough so you don't struggle to carry it, but durable enough to have your kids kick it down the front stairs and it thankfully doesn't show any signs of the incident. I've seen reviews that talk about the plastic handle and locking mechanism falling apart or not latching property. To avoid any issues I checked all the screws on the handle before loading it up. To date I haven't had any issues with the handle, lock or ice retention. I do wish the finish wasn't textured but that is a minor complaint. Over all I am extremely happy with the purchase and we will most likely be getting another one that is just for drinks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sMheo from Worked Well For Me! I use the cooler for four day car camping trips with a sea kayak club. I had been having trouble maintaining safe food temperatures with my old cooler. The Steel Belted Cooler kept a block of ice still at work after I arrived home. The drain was left ope and condensed liquid easily ran out keeping food from floating around or becoming water logged. It's a great addition to my camp kitchen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by BrendaK from A legacy renewed I wanted to replace my OLD steel Coleman cooler with a closure lock that broke about 30 years ago, but it keeps ice for at least 8 days when I'm off the grid. I needed a new Coleman cooler that stands up to this reputation. EUREKA! This steel belted cooler lives up to its legacy! It stays cold over a week!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Diane1 from Almost like the vintage! The coleman cooler is iconic! I would have given 5 stars but disappointed that the latch is plastic and the the hinge for the water release is flimsy and does not stay up. I paid alot of money for this cooler. I wish they would have stuck to the original design.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Daytondweller from Lid not latching to bottom I was very excited to receive a brand new 54 qt Stainless cooler. Unfortunately, when I unpacked it and opened the unit, it did not latch. The top latch appears to be damaged. Since I have no receipt or proof of purchase, I cannot return the item

Rated 4 out of 5 by Beer me. from WORTH THE PRICE Used this cooler several time now and am very happy with it. Once all the contents are cooled down the cooler keeps ice for days. You don't really need a $400 cooler, buy two of these for half the price and you'll be happy you did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Benny from Design issues Needs a better latch and a tether like on the cheap models to prevent the lid from falling back. My lid is now separating at the hinges and the insulation is now exposed. This happened with only the weight of the lid and gravity.
