The versatile CPX system lets you choose your power source: 4 D-cell batteries or a CPX6 rechargeable power cartridge. Rated 1 out of 5 by from LED light is good, Rechargeable battery bad I have used this rechargeable battery light three times over the last year and it has been great compared to the propane and mantle lamp. I was getting ready for another trip and it was dead. I left the battery fully charged, yet when I checked it before the trip, it wouldn't work. I plugged in the 12 v DC battery charger in and it shows a green "Fully Charge" light, but only measures 3.4v. Since this is a 6 volt battery I think the battery is bad. Does anyone else have this issue? If so, a light that only lasts three times or is kept for emergency use will do me no good. I could always trust my propane lantern as long as I had fuel and supplies. There are a lot of products out there and I thought I could trust Coleman. Not too happy with this light. If it had a battery that lasted, I would love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved the lantern, hate the battery length I really like how well designed the lantern was and how bright it was. The problem was the rechargeable battery. Right after the 3 year warranty the lantern wouldn't light and when tried to recharge battery, it showed a green light. I tried charging for 2 days and it still wouldn't charge or light the lantern. I expected the battery to last longer than that for what I paid for the lantern.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lantern works fine rechargeable battery waste of m Bought this lantern for camping and bought the rechargeable battery pack and it worked fine. Next camping trip charged the battery the night before and went to use it nothing. What a waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coleman Best Products I live in Florida and this is to be used if power goes out due to hurricane activity. I had two Coleman lanterns and one of them stopped working, so this is a replacement for the old one that doesn't work anymore. I have had these Coleman lanterns for at least 12 years and they have never let me down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Batteries drain if left in lantern When the batteries are left in the lantern they become drained of their power. Also, the battery pack is very difficult to remove from the lantern and open.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clips broke!!! The clips that hold the battery pack in broke after only two or three times that I had to change the batter's in it! They should have made them out of metal or something that would help keep the nipples from breaking off after so little use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, basic and functional - what we wanted Bought a bunch for our Cub Scout Pack, and got the rechargeable battery packs too. While there are only two lighting levels: low and REALLY BRIGHT, they are good for what we need. Simple to use, sturdy and classic design. Very happy.
