Description
Save money on fuel when you're lighting the way with a Coleman® Kerosene Lantern. It's powered by Coleman® Kerosene, which is out most cost-efficient fuel source. The single-mantle design of this lantern creates a steady, bright glow of up to 700 lumens of light that reaches up to 11 meters away. To get your lantern started, simply add some rubbing alcohol (sold separately) to the primer cup, light the alcohol with a match, then dial in the perfect brightness with the adjustable control knob. Once your lantern is lit, the fuel tank provides a steady base when placed on a table, and the bail handle allows for easy hanging. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality lantern The lantern shipped fast and made it in unscathed. Burns bright and steady. Quality seems to be as good as my older lanterns with the exception being the Chinese globe that comes on it. Outside of that you can't beat it plus it's way cooler than a propane lantern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO WHITE GAS I'm not sure that i will be able to use it in the house during power failures as i do with my propane lanterns, but it does work great. I followed the instructions for the lighting and its bright as can be,,, using inexpensive kerosene.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light for the great outdoors Coleman GPA lanterns (and stoves) are simply the best outdoors and emergency lighting ever built, the modern stuff isn’t quite the same as pre-1980s but still beats anything else. Even the modern battery operated LED lights don’t compare. I grew up using these and hope to pass them on to my kids. I’ve even become a collector, but will always be a user first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good lantern Have used this lantern several years an have run gallons of K1 thru it. Very bright, and puts out a ton of Heat. Very little smell once you get her up to speed..Have replaced the generator once. Tip: do not use drug store alcohol to pre heat. Smokes and smells very bad. I highly recommend “ heat” in yellow plastic bottle fo pre heat. Heat in red bottle does not work well. Available at gas stations and big box stores.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 639 Kero lantern extremely bright I bought a few of these last December because they were on sale and I did not have a kerosene lantern. I use them when I am cooking on my grill or smoker. Sometimes when I am sitting on my back porch and it is cold out I'll use it for a heater. The only 2 gripes that I have... 1. The globe has made in china printed right in the middle. Why you would have a made in USA lantern and put this on I cannot understand. I found that you can polish off the MIC part with some rubbing compound and a dremel. 2. The 2 lanterns were shipped loose in the box. No bubble wrap or packing at all. One of them was broken in shipment. Coleman did step up ship me a new lantern with no trouble but I would say the items need to be packed better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Kero Thanks for making this great kerosene lantern. Hope to see more fuel and Keri in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable, Durable, and VERY bright I love the fact that Coleman still produces a Kerosene fueled lantern. I have one of these 639C's and a 200A from yesteryear that I converted to run on Kerosene. These Kerosene lanterns really produce a lot of light and Kerosene is easy to find as most gas stations sell it. It is also less volatile than unleaded gas or camp fuel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice fueled lantern! This is a nice example of what lanterns should be. Liquid fueled and bright! This isn't exactly like it's predecessor, the Model 237 but, it's nice in it's own right and about the best Coleman makes today. Hopefully they will catch the drift of all the people going back to liquid fueled lanterns and begin producing more models again........I mean that IS what made Coleman what it is today afterall!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A FINE PIECE OF GEAR VERY NICE COLEMAN UNIT. HOWEVER IT IS NOT MY FAVORITE. THE KEROSENE LANTERN REQUIRES THE EXTRA STEP OF PRIMING THE GENERATOR WITH ALCOHOL = SO YOU WILL NEED TO CARRY ALCOHOL ALSO. THIS LANTERN WILL REMAIN AS A BACK-UP \ BACK-UP THE LANTERN BURNS YELLOW ... QUITE YELLOW WITH HEAVY FUMES INSIDE THE HOME. I TESTED IT WITH A COLEMAN DUAL FUEL LANTERN THAT I BURN ETHANOL FREE GASOLINE ... NICE BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT AND LITTLE TO NO FUMES WHAT SO EVER, INSIDE THE HOME. I USE THIS LANTERN WHEN THE POWER IS OUT FOR A FEW DAYS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice lantern, well built. Do Coleman lanterns really need a review, They have been shedding light on the world for as long as I can remember. I have 21 Coleman lanterns, some are more than 50 years old and still work perfect. I got this newer model because I needed another source of fuel, kerosene, just in case .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old School Reliability Purchased this lantern to add to my collection of coleman lanterns and found it to be a very good lantern. It is very easy to light, and I always feel safer using kerosene vs coleman fuel. This lantern puts out a great amount of light to light up your camp. This lantern is very stout so I expect it to last a lifetime if properly taken care of. Good job Coleman!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the price I was given as a gift a 639C brand new in box, it was manufactured 5/2019. Upon opening the box yesterday I noticed the pump plunger was difficult to operate. I pulled the pump from the tube and saw rust inside the pump tube, well I wasn't happy. Upon shutdown, I noticed after 5 minutes the lantern would not go out. I was finally able to get the lantern to shut down if I held the valve in the off position. I figured I would light it one more time, so during the preheat cycle i noticed kerosene dripping from the air tube which confirmed that the valve assembly is defective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just a Coleman should Nice and bright. Lightning the first time was a challenge. I used 70% rubbing alcohol to preheat the generator. It would not burn. 91% did the trick. I’m very happy with my purchase and I expect to get many years of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big discounts Great price! This is the first new Coleman lantern I have ever had. All of my other lanterns are at least 25 years old. I wish the pump cap was metal, other than that it is a well made lantern and works well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old School Cool! Classic Kero lantern from Coleman. As close as you can get now to the old Coleman lanterns. Every thing about this lantern is great-from the pre heat procedure, to the awesome light it puts out. Kero is about half the cost of Coleman fuel (around here anyway). I`d recommend running this lantern full blast, not turned down to a lower setting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome lamp Works great, high quality, I like to use fueled lamps much more than led. I am still using fueled lamps from 60s and 70s every week during the summer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Kero I think it burns cleaner than CF. Fuel is cheaper. Long burning and lots of light. Heat is an added bonus when used in cold weather situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good lamp In Germany, all power plants will be shut down by 2030. It happens again and again that the power goes out. Nuremberg, Berlin 2020. There were defective ones in winter. This lamp can heat in an emergency and makes good light

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good lamp for a base camp This got me curious to see how well it stacked up to the propane and the white gas variations and, two thumbs up! Just as bright, excusing the difference of the single mantal and no bad kerosene smell

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First new Kero burner Love my new kero burner. This is as beautiful as the roughly 50 vintage ones in my collection. Great purchase!
Date published: 2018-12-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product Excellent lantern. Very well made. The added step of denatured alcohol is really easy once you get the hand of it. Only drawback of this style of lantern is the difficulty adjusting to get a very low dimness. The lantern is naturally very bright, so if you are looking for something that is dimmer this may not be for you

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bright, dependable and efficient Bought this to supplement emergency lighting in case of blackouts and recently had to use this lantern during a black out where the temperature fell below freezing. Unit started right up as it should and added a bit of warmth during this time. Unit lasted all through the night with only one tank of fuel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coleman quality as usual Great quality and excellent price! I usually buy older Coleman lanterns and repair them and get them going, but every once in a while I like to add something new. I was quite impressed with the quality of the lantern, it will be used mostly for camping and tailgating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 639 Kerosene Lantern I own several Coleman white gas lanterns. This is my first kerosene lantern. The start up and shut down or slightly different and there is a slight odor of the kerosene during those periods of time, but otherwise it burns very clean, odorless, and bright. Kerosene is easy to come by. The product quality is solid and for the most part made in Wichita which I like. I’m happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coleman A+ Quality I live in a rural area where we lose electricity when we have bad storms. I have several Coleman lanterns and stoves. This kerosene lantern will be another option when we lose power and need heat and light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable and durable! EASIER TO LIGHT THEN REGULAR LANTERNS. SAME GREAT QUALITY AS OTHER COLMAN LANTERNS. LESS EXPENSIVE FUEL. WORKS GREAT.
Date published: 2018-06-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lantern This lantern burns 1-k kerosene very cleanly. Preheats rather quickly and requires minimal pumping to maintain luminosity. Hope that Coleman never quits manufacturing liquid fuel appliances.
Date published: 2019-01-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost effective, great lantern. I have a dozen or so Coleman fuel lanterns and decided to pick up this kerosene model. You can store the fuel longer in the event of an emergency. Its well built and very bright.
