The tube-mantle design of this lantern shines brighter than most standard 2-mantle lanterns - up to 1300 lumens of light that reaches up to 26 meters away. Starting your lantern is easy. Just hit the Instastart™ push-button ignition and dial in the perfect brightness with the adjustable control knob. Once your lantern is lit, you can use the reflector to direct the light to a specific area or remove it to light the entire campsite. The footed base provides stability when placed on a table, and the bail handle allows for easy hanging. Meanwhile, the globe guard helps protect the globe from breaking. No matter where you go, the PerfectFlow™ pressure control technology produces a steady fuel stream and consistent performance in all kinds of weather. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice little light I have the older Insta-stary Compact Lantern that runs great. I wish Coleman still made this version since you don't need matches to light it. Also, Coleman, Please make some accessories for this popular little lantern! I made a reflector for mine using a small pie plate and some soft electric fence wire. This makes casting the light where I want it much easier. My next step is to build a case for it using some foam and a plastic ammo can. I'd also like to have an amber globe for summer camp so I don't attract all the bugs. It sucks that Jaffe has stopped dying globes. I hope that Coleman will start producing amber globes again as they are a much needed accessory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where to buy #51 mantles I had a problem finding additional #51 mantles also. I have like using this lantern. I've located two local sources to buy these mantles. 1. Academy Sports 2. Army PX. I hope this information helps others who have had the similar problems in locating these mantles in your area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, a great addition to the camp Did not need a mantle that was as bright as the sun. This little gem is ample in the light department for most camp task. Sips the fuel on low setting which is where it stays most of the time. Well made and thought out. You might even be able to warm up a cup on top of it?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from parts not available I bought my compact lantern a couple of years ago, but almost immediately broke the mantle, none were available at the time, so I put it on the shelf. Pulled it out during a power outage last week and decided to fix it up, since it had never been used. discovered that not only is the globe not available, neither are the #51 mantles! Despite the fact the lantern is still for sale, a bump will render it a useless, $35 expenditure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and affordable Purchased two of these for my Hurricane Prepardness Box. They take up very little space when stored. Very compact, durable and simple to use, but provide an enormous amount of light. When tested prior to storage, the propane cylinders seem to last forever due to the small size of the lantern. An excellent buy. One could not go wrong with one or more of these lanterns.
