Rated 4 out of 5 by apropdoc from A Great Travel Grill, but.... I purchased this for a cross country trip last Nov (2018). It was received well packed and I thought was easy to put together. The cooking surface was ample and the dual flame rings worked great. I would have given a 5 star rating except for three problems. First, the latch that holds the lid down, doesn't. I had to attach a double hooked bungee to hold the lid down. Second, when I first used the grill to see how it worked, one of the grill grates had two pieces pop off from being cracked prior to the coating being applied (a fresh crack/break will be shiny or the same color as the parent cast metal). Third, I received ZERO response when I emailed about it for replacement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Mugwump313 from CHEAP Purchased 3 weeks ago used for the first time last week, in a word "CHEAP". Went to use the handle to pull the unit out of the box and the only thing to move was the handle. As you can see from the pictures the rivet is too short. Keep in mind that the thickness of the grill's shell is not shown so the little bit of rivet you see is actually a little shorter when attached to the grill. The main locking latch doesn't. It cooks great, goes through the gas quick make sure to a an extra bottle of two or three. Easy to clean. Can't recommend this product at this $300.00 MAYBE $150.00, maybe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tim A. from Great Price! Very Versatile! I purchased this Coleman RoadTrip 285 three weeks ago in preparation for a week long annual camping trip. The grill was used to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner (I purchased cast iron griddle and stove burner swap tops). It heats up fast and the heat is very even throughout the cooking surface. I found I did not need to cook with the burners above the medium setting. The grill feels heavy duty and the stand with slide out side tables is a bonus for the price compared to competitors grills that don't come with stand. It would have been nice if this model had come with hooks for cooking utensils. The grill is also pretty heavy for a portable grill. I would definitely recommend this grill for camping and tailgating purposes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by goofy42 from No replacement part to replace easily broken part So far I mostly love the grill. The three burners give me good heat control and I like the addition of the thermometer. The new location for the propane is way better than the older styles. With the addition of optional grills, this grill almost replaces my colman stove. However, within 3 days one of the pull out shelves broke. If I knew that repair parts weren't availible, I might have waited or bought an (less expensive) older model.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Massole from Disappointed I am disappointed in the way the hinges are attached to the lid. I had to buy washers and rivets to reattach the hinge. First off the holes punched into the lid are much bigger than 1/8". Second the washers on the rivets were too small and 4 of the 6 pulled right through after only the second use of the grill. And third the baked on finish has already chipped off where the hinges attach. I bought this grill assuming Coleman was a name to be trusted. I tried adding pictures of the faulty rivets and my repairs but they wouldn't upload.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Joseph from Grills Great but Coleman Needs Quality Assurance Purchased this gas grill from Coleman for patio grilling and for camping trips. The slate blue is a very nice color. It grills wonderfully but I'm not impressed how this item left their factory. There was damage and surface rust to one of the support legs and the latch for the grill lid does not stay locked and everything would fall out and when you transport it. I know this has been an issue on previous models and I'm surprised that Coleman has not addressed it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by GPHZ from Terrible Quality The pull out table shattered on first use and, unbelievably, Coleman does not offer replacement parts. In addition, the cover lock is totally inadequate. Vibrations will cause the lock to open when rolling the stove allowing the cast iron grills and water tray to fallout. I now use a strap to secure the lid, which is ridiculous for such an expensive grill. To late for me, but there are better options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChuteBuni from Sturdy, affordable, excellent features Not sure what I was expecting, but this certainly blew that out of the water. I did expect good quality and sturdy, but figured because it was portable some "tin-niness" would be necessary. Not so at all. Apparently this is the latest of the RoadTrip series, because it appears Coleman listened to at least some of the past reviews and made positive changes - easier instructions, higher lid with thermometer and three heat available settings. Arrived at my door in less than a week (more like 3-4 days) in good shape - I was surprised by how heavy the package was. I'm older and not as handy as I'd like to admit, but I put it together alone in less than an hour, and found the instructions very clear. I've diy-ed it before but would never consider myself a master builder. Was impressed by the little details, such as including two of the wrenches - made tightening SO much easier and faster. (Thanks, Coleman). Hint: If alone, open the top flaps, take out the instructions, and turn the box upside down onto a rug or blanket, then easily the box off - It still takes some finagling to unpack from all the styrofoam, but nowhere near as horrible as trying to dead-lift this monster straight out of the box, fighting the packing all the way! I purchased to use mostly on the patio of my 2nd flr condo, so space was a bigger issue for me and figured grilling would need to be less elaborate -- not so. Grill is large and the 3 zones will allow me to sear, roast AND do veggies at same time. Not sure about turkey, but am sure I can roast a good-sized chicken in here - will update on that if can. I had thought I would not be moving from the 2nd floor, but now that I have it, I would not hesitate to drag it up and down the stairs for actual road trips &/or disasters. Finally, I live in Tampa Bay and used to work for Red Cross, so planning ahead is part of this purchase. After Hurricane Irma, many of us spent up a week without power (some longer) in our undamaged homes. Obviously an electric grill is not an answer, but I am more than expecting this bad boy to not only stand up to stark conditions, but to easily get out of the way in the first place! And yes, I will be adding the burner plate to the grill and hotplate. Oh yes, on a much less important note, I purchased this grill in blue and for me, pleasantly surprised (again) the blue is not the royal of prior grills. It's a nice color for my patio and actually kinda matches my Jeep - sorta.
