Rated 1 out of 5 by RNsheri from Party Ball Grill Fails Miserably I bought this grill hoping to use it as a carry along on road trips. I knew from the beginning not to expect it to perform as a full sized charcoal grill, but I did expect that it would be able to cook a couple of small steaks or 2 burgers. Nope. By the time the charcoal (popular self lighting brand) is ready to cook with, this grill is still not hot enough to complete the cooking process. It never retained much heat and then my charcoal was gone! I used the charcoal pan as directed, filling it, and also tried just piling lots of charcoal on the bottom grate. I’ve tried every position on the bottom air vents to adjust flow. I’ve cooked top dome on, top dome off, and tried every position on the top air vent. Needless to say, I’ve tested this grill with several different foods on Several Occasions. Perhaps the smartest thing I did was test this grill at home before I actually took it on a road trip because each time I tried to use the grill and it failed, I always had to finish cooking my food indoors. Imagine being out in the middle of nowhere with half cooked burgers. Anyway, I’ve come to think that because this grill is made of very thin aluminum it will not hold heat. I can understand the reasoning, the lightweight material makes it very portable, but also makes it unusable for any “raw” foods. It would probably work for precooked hotdogs....maybe.
