Rated 1 out of 5 by from Coleman 6 Pearson Tent POOR PRODUCT Very disappointed with this product. We camped out on the Blue Ridge Parkway N.C.It rained all night and we got soaked. the water came in through the walls not the seams. it pooled on the floor and all our gear was soaked( sleeping bags, computers, clothing,etc...) I would not recommend this tent to anyone. I will not purchase anymore Colman products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE THIS TENT It seems only fair, since I gave a scathing review to the Longs Peak Easy Pitch 6-person Dome tent, that I should also review the InstantUp Cabin Tent. I have used my InstantUp since 2015 when I took it out for an almost 3 month fire assignment. The ICP (fire camp) was in the coldest possible location (almost 30 miles by road from the fire itself) and it rained numerous times, the wind blew, taking out 2/3rds of the other tents in camp, and for all but the first week on the fire, nights went below 28 degrees F. I was happy and snug in my 6-person InstantUp Cabin tent, especially after I got myself a Little Heater Buddy to warm up the room. The tent snugs up so well that I leave the door zipper cracked, and the vent open on the top so the safety feature on the Heater Buddy won't shut it off. The tent truly is an InstantUp. One Girl set up in ten minutes. There are zippered windows on four sides, plus top vents, so you can open up when it's hot, & close it up tight when it's cold or rainy. I always set it up from the beginning with the rain fly, and I tie it down with extra tent pegs for the rain fly. I've never staked & tied down the extra ties that come on the tent itself, I just use the ones on the rain fly. It did not leak in heavy rain, as long as I kept all my gear away from touching the tent wall while it was raining. I use a tarp underneath it, and I take rugs for the floor, as well as a large cot to sleep on, under which I store all my gear in tubs. I have my Mr. Heater Buddy for cold mornings, or to warm everything up as I get into bed at night. I can use my solar powered lights because the cord to the collector can be threaded out through the top vent, which doesn't leak because it's under the rain fly. It's October of 2020. We just got off a 30 day fire assignment in September & October in Idaho. It was hot in the beginning, and then cold. I was happy. But the door zipper seam pulled loose from the tent at the top corner, and I will have to find someone to repair that before I can use the tent again. It's the only problem I've had with the Instant Up in 6 years of use on Wildfire assignments.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good tent, but needs a better rain fly The tent is easy to put up. Had minimum water leaking in the rain, so sprayed the tent with a water repellent to fix the issue. I've had to do this with tents from other companies, so not a big deal. Would be good if it had an arrow or something in the center where the poles come together so you know where the front is before you unfold the tent. I used a marker to add an arrow to point to the front. Would also be nice if there was some sort of small opening to pass in an electric cable from the outside. Finally, if you get the additional rain fly know that it only covers the top of the tent. Since the bottom of the tent angles outward from the top, if you open the door in the rain you will get water in the tent. The rain fly does not extend out over the door to keep the rain out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaky! I purchased two of these tents separately for the same trip. Both leaked severely during mild rain events. The fly doesn't do much except move the leaks lower on the walls, except where it leaks, as well. All "weather-resistant" claims are complete falsehoods. Really disappointed. The floor holds water great, however, so if you're into that Roman bath thing, these are perfect!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A failure in mild gusts I am from Oman. We were out camping in the beach. 15kn of gusts and the tent collapsed. The spider structure was guy-lined to avoid the collapse but still the knuckle could not hold on. Middle of the night, we were packing ourselves out from the beach. What a disaster this tent is and even pathetic is their agent here in Oman. 8 other families had purchased this tent based on my initial recommendations and now I pray they do not go camping in winds. Did not expect such a crap from Coleman.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy peasy!!!!!! I highly recommend the Coleman 6-person instant cabin tent! Seriously tent setup does not get any easier! And best of all it’s just as easy to take down! It also actually fits easily into to provided storage bag! We easily fit two queen size airbeds inside. Lots of nice sized windows and a excellent ventilation screened tabs at the top for extra ventilation. A nice tab also for hanging up our lantern inside. I love this tent and will be purchasing the rain fly as it isn’t included with the tent. If you are looking for the easiest tent to set up quickly this is the one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy set up - NOT FOR RAIN It’s super easy to set up even with 1 person. Plenty of room and windows to control air flow. However, DO NOT EVER USE IN RAIN!!! The whole tent leaks - from seams to walls. Nothing is water proof or made for even small rain. It will leak and all your stuff will be wet. Completely false advertising for weatherproof product! Expected much better from Coleman.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great for quick set up and take down This initially is ok in the rain but if you want it to absolutely be rain proof, you need to put this under an instant tarp. In that case both are instant set up and take down. That is the perfect set up. Otherwise it will leak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This tent is a solid performer I purchased this tent for convenience purposes to be used for our annual family camping trip. This year due to projected bad weather, and not wanting to disappoint our granddaughters we decided to camp at their house. We referred to it as Camp COVID. On day three along came tropical storm ISAIAS with heavy rain and wind gusts between 50-60 mph. For safety we moved into the house to wait out the storm. The winds were so strong they took down the awning which was securely staked down, and their tent. However our Coleman instant tent was still standing and dry as a bone so we slept comfortably in it that night.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Designed Tent for Weather This tent says Weather Tec on it, but what does that mean? It leaked into the zippers just from dew collecting on it. Rain built up puddles on the very top and leaked all over the floor. So that is 2 areas that leaked for me after 1 short 2 day test run in my yard. I tried sealing those seams on the windows, but water still cam in from the rain. I then learned that sold separately from a third party a rain fly is sold for this tent. Why would Coleman sell a tent that knowingly leaks this bad? Are these tested in any sort of light rain conditions? Why stamp Weather Tec on the side if even dew leaks in? I see the 4 person tent has some bad leak photos as well with the same design. I am now hearing even with the rain fly it still leaks. Why is this even on the market? Maybe they will work on Mars if it never rains there, but certainly not Michigan where we love to camp and have depended on Coleman to make us reliable camping gear for decades.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quick and easy but morning dew leaks into tent got this tent to go camping with my wife. Took less than 3 minutes to set up with putting a tarp on the ground setting up tent and staking it all in. It didn't rain at all last night. I under stand the morning dew and tents getting damp. This tent was leaking all the water in every window. Very shocked by this. Never have i had this happen b4

Rated 2 out of 5 by from weathertec? bwuahaha i wanted so bad to have a better story to tell. this tent is great, its roomy, stupid easy and fast to set up, but you do not want this in the rain. even if you buy the rain fly that is not included, which i did. i dont feel i am a hardcore camper, but have twice been caught in the rain with this tent and have literally had standing water in the tent. it seems to come from the bottom edge of the windows, even though the seams are sealed. ........i mean, dont advertise it as "weathertec" and not needing a rain fly......if it doesnt protect you and your stuff from the rain......whats the point?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This tent is not waterproof. No Fly! I purchased this tent from Canadian Tire back in November, as it was on sale and we do a lot of camping. The product states that it is water proof. It is NOT! This tent would be perfect if it came with a fly from top to bottom, but it does not and I cannot even find one to purchase. I cannot take it back because It was purchased last year. We do backcountry camping and this tent let us down big time. Worst experience ever with a tent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not made for rain A tent for quick setup, but the integrated rain cover is worthless. We lost a 4-day weekend campout because it leaked so bad with constant rain that night.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy to set up, not good in the rain I've had this tent for about 18 months now, used it approximately 8 times. It is so easy to set up, literally have it up and staked, in less than 10 minutes. No complaints about set up and tear down. My big issue is weather proofing. Any dew or rain and the inside of the tent is all wet to the touch with some pooling on the floor in rain. We sleep on cots and if you touch the side of the tent with your sleeping bag or anything it gets wet. It's quite frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy! I’m a single gal so anything I use I like to make sure it’s easy for one person to setup/takedown/use/put together/etc. This tent was as simple as could be to setup. It’s not heavy at all which surprised me. The instructions were easy to read and they were correct. The inside of the tent is so spacious! I am only 5’4”, but there was extra room for someone taller than me by at least a few inches. There are plenty of zipper windows for airflow and they zipped smoothly. The takedown was just as easy as setup. I’d say the hardest part was getting it small enough to fit back in the carry bag. I’m sure after a few times setting up and taking down I’ll have the hang of it. I definitely recommend this tent. Maybe not for taking on a hiking trip, since it’s too bulky for that. It’s nice for setting up outside your car though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great Tent Until It Rained We used it a couple of times, and was easy to setup and use. Third trip it rained on us, and it leaked water everywhere, soaking all of our bedding and clothes. This is the worst experience in my life camping in the rain, and I’ve been camping for 40 years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent. after a few mods I bought the 4 man and 6 man version of this tent over 8 years ago and still use them to this date. work great i bought the rain fly for both of them and seamed sealed them. also spayed water proofing on them once every 2-3 years to ensure they stay water proof. I did manage to tear the floor on the 4 man version, but gorilla tape solved that problem. tents are still in use now and for the foreseeable future. If yours leaks they are canvas (nylon) and they are not water proof resistant maybe spray them with a good aerosol water proof spray solves your leaks

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice tent, bad zipper. I received this tent as a Christmas present this past December was super excited when I got it. Unfortunately very disappointed when I took it out for the very first time to go camping. The tent went up without a problem but the door Zipper at the very bottom is broken it doesn't zip together. The zipper doesn't look like it was correctly put together, no way to close the bottom of the flap on the bottom. I would like Coleman to contact me as soon as possible about possible replacement or repair of this tent considering it was broken right out of the box

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor design but excellent warranty at local store The tent offers no awning and water leaks in the tent heavily. I manualy added some protection to the material and it leaked again I believe in the 4 corners and center. However I was offered to replace it with the new design in this begining of season and I am confident that coleman improved the weaknesses with their new design "Skylodge™ 6-Person Instant Camping Tent, Blackberry" . The rapid mounting design is great and service as well. I am looking forward to go camping again with my new tent and will provide my review at the end of the summer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy setup... NOT RAIN PROOF! Bought this tent to replace an older tent. Took it out for its first trip outdoors and got caught in a rain storm right when we finished setting up . Water leaked in through the seams and there was water puddled in the tent. Even had the rain fly on the tent. Says weather proof but definitely not weatherproof. It is super easy to setup and take down I will say which is why it got two stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy setup but not waterproof Easy to setup and take down. Used with the rainfly. Water leaked in through the seams which met the bottom tub and there was water soaked the seams of the pockets which then dropped into the tent soaking all contents, mattresses, pillows clothes. There was not much air allowed to flow through so the condensation was lining the interior of the tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Roomy Time Saver in Dry Weather We purchased this 6 person tent several years ago for family camping trips. The appeal was the time savings and ease of use that the "instant cabin" promised and it has delivered and then some. It is spacious for sleep and storing gear and has ample windows for airflow. It packs well, is easy to set up and take down. As seen in other reviews, this is not the tent for wet conditions, even a light mist will penetrate the walls and anything touching them. We typically use a tarp to keep debris off the tent and this helps but if you encounter true rain, know that your tent will be wet. I still gave this 4 stars because it's a well made product with great features but I couldn't give it higher as it allows moisture on the walls when most wouldn't unless in heavier rain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks We purchased this tent expecting the usual trusted product durability of the Coleman brand. We love how simple this tent is to put up and down, with plenty of space inside! We don't get much rain here, so we haven't had a problem until now. We had a little rain last weekend and woke up to water dripping on our faces, our blankets were wet and a few puddles on the ground. It's unfortunate as we have trusted coleman camping products for years and we love the design of this tent, but it's definately not weather proof
Date published: 2021-12-27
Rated 1 out of 5 by from not for use in the rain Set up is quick and easy, but it leaks in the rain. The seams were not sealed and I woke up to water dripping on me. At least I was on a cot so that I did not have to sleep in the puddles that collected before I could get a canopy set up over the tent.
Date published: 2020-10-23
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy Setup, NOT Good for Rainy Conditions Setup for this tent was quick and easy however it rained one of the four nights and we woke up in puddles of water. Do NOT recommend this tent unless it is nothing but sun in the forecast. We even bought the rain fly/canopy for it and it still leaked.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Concept - Flawed Performance I really wanted to love this tent. The convenience of popping it up was great, and it was what I was looking for in terms of not having open air given that we were camping with overnight lows in the 40s. I've also been a fan of Coleman tents given their foundation flooring is tarp and not tent material like many other tents. My biggest complaint was that this tent is not waterproof nor even water resistant. I ahd read of others having the same complaint of the tent leaking, but I thought I'd give the tent a shot. Sadly, the overnight dew was enough to sleep through the tent. The interior walls were saturated, and it was enough that it left small puddles of water on the floor. I would hate to think what results an actual rain shower or storm would yield as I doubt it would keep you dry even with a rainfly (which I also purchased and used by the way). Given that the tent is advertised as "weather tech" printed on the outside front of the tent, I would have hoped this included water resistance at the very least. Not sure what this specific "tech" applies to. Needless to say, I was rather disappointed in the lack of performance of this tent and it's inability to keep us completely dry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy set up! Not for use in rainy weather! Took this tent out for its first camping trip earlier this week. Tent set up easy. Rains came and tent flooded terribly. Water ran down the side and entered through windows. Water pooled up on the floor soaking everything in the tent.
Date published: 2021-06-03
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy tent bad zippers! I bought this tent and only was able to use it a couple of times this year since the purchase and the door zippers are not closing and broke during the third camping trip. Very disappointed! I wonder if customer service offers repairs!
