Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and Easy Setup I have an older version of this Coleman "Yurt". I have had it for over 5 years. It is my primary "home" when I go camping. It's been all over Ontario Canada, and all the way to Pennsylvania. It has never leaked, and truly stands up to the wind. My FAVOURITE tent of all time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy campers! Plenty of space for our family or three (obviously). Incredibly easy to put together and also pack away! The design allows air flow from every direction when the rain fly is all open. Pluses and minuses. The rain fly can only be opened and closed from the outside (kind of a duh moment for us). So if you’re already cozy inside or maybe need fresh air, you have to leave the tent to close up or open the windows. But overall, we love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with the purchase. Easy to set up. Huge tent, plenty of room for wife, kids, dogs and gear. The way the rain fly opens up to let the tent breath and the easily closes back up if it does rain is the best I've seen. No need to take the fly of and on. Air flow through the tent with the fly on but rolled back is great. The tent feels well made and I've had.no problem with the bag like others off had. If you fold it up properly it fits with room to spare. This tent should last a few years easy with proper care and storage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Huge and airy This tent fits our family of 4 and all our gear very comfortably. We have four Coleman cots that fit perfect inside. It has screens on all sides so you stay nice and cool with tons of ventilation. The only complaints I have are 1. There is no opening for an electrical cord. It does have two doors so we usually run our extension cord through the back door which works. And 2. You can only zip up the “windows” from the outside. So if you’re sleeping with the flu unzipped and it starts to rain you have to go outside to zip it up. This is not a cold weather tent which is fine for us since we mainly camp in the summer months. The main door is nice because it has poles in it so it swings open and closed. You still have to zip it up to keep bugs out though. Overall I’m very happy with this tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is Glamping! Large and comfortable. Love how I can fit a queen size air bed and a couple chairs. Plus I can stand up in it to get changed. Add a small rug and it is a comfortable small yurt. Had a real hard rain lasting all night. A very little bit of water came in in a couple of the corners but nothing major. Having to go outside to close the window flaps is the only downside to this tent but the upside is the fly really keeps the water out and the design provides plenty of ventilation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yaaasssss I used it while camping in Canada and let me tell you, that tent has been through quite a test, thus far. It held up against some really strong winds and a rain and lightning storm. No leaks! Great size, but not overwhelmingly big. Nice details with how the doors function and the zippers. I would buy it all over again. No, the whole tent will never fit back in to the original rolling bag, but you can put the poles and rain fly in there. A great tent!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice head room and a great front door My wife and I just bought this tent and used it for the first time this past week. It's relatively easy to set up. We are tall and love the head room and the fact that you don't have to bend over to enter and exit due to the front "door". However... We had some rain during our camping trip and experienced some serious leaking. The front door has a flap that covers the zipper, but it does not fully cover the door zipper at the bottom, where the door poles meet at the bottom. A significant amount of rain seeped thru the zipper there, enough that we had soak up the puddle with a towel, and put a fresh one there until the rain stopped. The back door also leaked, but not as bad. I wish the rain fly covered the back door, but it doesn't. The rain fly also leaked at the top. There are two vents on the top, but the rain did not come thru the vents. It came in where the supports to hold up the vent were stitched to the rain fly. We had to go buy a tarp to keep the rain out. Compounding the issue is that the roof of the tent is just a mesh. If it were nylon, like the rain fly, I doubt we would have even noticed it. I wondered why there was mesh top on a tent, but I trusted that Coleman would have made the rain fly leak proof. My mistake. Another concern is that that is no flap for running an extension cord into the tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique style, easy pitch and quality expected! I had trouble with previous Instant Pitch tent, so I replaced with poles type Fast Pitch for our large family of 4 camp trips. It was quick setup/bread down as expected and the panoramic windows are nice. My two 6 ft cots are longer than one wall so may be tight for fam trips, but perfect when only 2 of us, but this is my fault for not measuring ahead of time. I don't expect any problems for years of use this will get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect tent for an upgrade. This is a great tent!. We went from a 5 person Coleman dome tent to this 8 person Octagon Tent. It was two adults and a dog on this 7 day camping trip around the UP. We tried to do the dome tent with our 90 lb golden retriever on a shorter trip earlier this year and there just wasn't enough room, so we purchased this Octagon 98 for our long trip, which was more then enough room. It took us less than five minutes for two of us to set up and take down. My husband set it up by himself when we first received it and could do it by himself but needed help with the rain fly because the tent is pretty tall. We had two days of rain and we had no leaks at all! Our dome tent from Coleman had the D-hinged door and we loved it so I wanted to make sure that our new tent had one as well and it does! My dog loved being able to pop his head out of it and to be able to go out of the tent when he wanted to. It also made it easier on the two days that it rained to make sure no water go into the tent because the door closes behind without having to zip it up. Having the ability to be able to stand up in the tent made it easier to get dressed and we were able to hang our lantern in the middle and didn't hit our heads on it in the middle of the night. We didn't use the room separate or the other door, (which is your standard zipper door) but that will be nice if we ever take another couple with us. I did open the other door a little bit at the bottom to put our extension cord through which was actually very convenient to not trip over an extension cord every time you go into the tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RV alternative!! I like this tent because of its size. It's big. Enough room for a big bed, little lamp tables, lanterns, all of our gear and clothing bags. My guy is 6"3", so he has no trouble standing up. Even a portable potty in the corner for night time urination.I have tents of different sizes and this one is good for 1 week or more at the same site. It's glamping, for sure! And it costs a lot less than a RV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Going the distance We've had this tent for around 4 years now and have used it around ten times. Everything still works great, our family of 5 loves this tent. We especially love the space and the rigid door. We frequent state parks so it's goes up and down no problem. It rained last night and the rain fly works great. We do use a heavy duty tarp underneath the tent to protect it from sharp sticks and rocks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not good for Fall or Spring camping Although this was a good quality tent....it was not suited for colder temperatures. The images appear to show a tent that is not open at the top. We took it camping and the temp dropped to the 40-50 degrees and we were very cold despite covering it with at tarp and having a heater. This tent is not for all seasons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome family tent! This is a well made tent for family camping. When we received it there had been some damage to the tent from shipping and their customer service was great and got the issue resolved quickly. We set it up right away. By we, I mean my 10 and 8 year old boys set it up. They had some difficulty with the fly, but other than that it was super easy to set up. A great tent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best car camping tent there is! My wife and I purchased this tent for a weekend getaway in Acadia National Park in early August. We did a lot (months) of shopping around and reading reviews and ultimately decided between the Coleman Steel Creek Fast Pitch Dome Tent with Screen Room, 6-Person and the Octagon 98 Full Fly. The Octagon far exceeded our expectations, it had more than enough square footage to store our supplies, setup a queen air-mattress, with plenty of room to walk around and easy entry/exit. The two door entry/exit is a nice touch, however, we only used the amazing hinged door for this trip. Not having to zip and unzip every time you enter and leave the tent was a very nice touch as the hinged doors kept the mosquitos out with no issues. The tent setup took about 10 minutes, however, it was super easy with the color-coded poles. I should note, I set it up with my wife and cannot comment on trying to do it on your own. The quality of the tent, poles and floor was great especially for the money. We had rain and no issues with rain getting in the tent. One note is the rain fly can only be zippered open/close from outside the tent which could be an issue if you wake up at night to pouring rain and scramble to find a light and shoes to go outside and close it up. However, that was a hypothetical comment as we did not run into this issue. We fully zipped up the fly at night time and let some air in through the door vents which can be zipped open/close from the inside. On a complete opposite note, if you know the weather is going to be nice you can take off the rain fly entirely and enjoy gazing at the stars through the expansive mesh roof! I've had plenty of experience using 2, 4, 6 person tents and it can get stuffy especially with an air-mattress and camping supplies and will say that having this octagon and large square footage was stress free. This is a very heavy tent and I would only recommend it for car camping. Our friends had the Coleman Steel Creek Fast Pitch tent in the site next to us and while the screened porch area was nice they didn't use it much and it took away a lot of valuable real estate inside the actual tent. At the end of the weekend, they agreed the Octagon was the better choice. I highly recommend it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great in the wind but some minor leaks Pros: Wind resistant. In the Colorado Rockies, the wind can whip up and be pretty fierce. We bought this tent after a camping trip was ruined by heavy winds that snapped the poles on one tent and the other required four people to hang on to it to prevent it blowing away like other tents in the campground. Because this tent has metal poles and it is an octagon, it stands up to high winds better than the dome tents that we had. Good airflow. The mesh interior allows good airflow when all of the windows are open. Easy set up. I'm 5'2" and the tent took me about 20 minutes working by myself to set up. It wasn't difficult to set up because of the color coded tape on the poles and joints (however, I still took a permanent marker and wrote on the poles in case the colored tape peels off in the years to come). Tall. My husband is 6'2" and easily stands in this tent. He loves it. Comfortable. Our family of four is very comfortable in the tent with our gear. Like every other tent, I'd never cram the number of people that it is rated for into it to stay. But for four or five people, it would work. A few negatives: 1. Minor leaking. When we got a prolonged rainstorm, the tent leaked a little. It was a long, steady rain for six hours (the tent held up well - no leaks) and then it really started raining hard for an hour (the tent started to leak). The leaks weren't bad, but there were three or four places along the ceiling seams that started to drip once per minute. I'm not sure if it started leaking because the rain was coming down so hard or because it had been raining for hours and there was only so much it could take. 2. Windows. The only way to open and close the windows are from the outside of the tent. It's a minor inconvenience. 3. Heavy. Because of the steel poles, this tent is heavy. It is definitely for car camping somewhere that you don't need to carry the tent very far. 4. The tent is difficult to get back into the bag. This seems to be the theme of every tent I've owned, but it is difficult to get everything packed into the bag. Overall, we love this tent. It's large, easy to set up, and won't blow away, but there are a few negatives that you should be aware of before purchasing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Octagon 98 with full fly I recently purchased this tent after lots of research and I have to agree that overall I am very happy with my purchase. I was able to set up easily by myself. It has an attractive look and good use of space. I really enjoy the hinge door. Unfortunately, after 1 use I already have a whole on the flooring. Other than damage on first use, I am happy with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality Control The tent itself is very nice and spacious and held up in a big rainstorm medium winds tons of rain without a ground tarp. the big issue is quality control the tent was missing important tie offs on the rain fly I found one tied to the wrong point another I'm still missing the tent transport roller bag is so cheap it tore open when I unzipped it for the first time

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Head and shoulders above every tent I've ever used It's easy to set up. The color coding system is fool-proof. We spent several nights in the tent, and it rained on two nights, quite heavily. The tent was bone dry the entire time. Seriously, if you're on the fence, just buy this one. It is worth every penny. It's tall, so you never have to stoop over, and the two door system is just plain handy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really a great tent. Very affordable. Oct 98 Really a great tent. Very affordable. I did want a tent with the swinging door but this was such a good price it was hard to argue. Great for hot weather. A little chilly for cold climates as its very large with good airflow. Coleman always seem to have consistant good quality products. I have a hand me down lantern from 1968, perfection!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tent we have owned Took it camping for the first time this week. The D-door is great because kids were constantly in and out of the tent all day long. Heavy afternoon downpour soaked everything EXCEPT our stuff ;) The heat before the rain was vented by opening the side fly panels, and we slept comfortably for three straight nights. Great tent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roomy and strong tent Loved being able to stand up in tent in all areas. Easy to set up with only one person. Only thing I would change is the ability to open windows from inside tent. Also the zipper on the tent bag broke on first use. Will be calling Coleman to see if it is covered. Otherwise tent is solid and we are very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roomy Quality Camping Experience This tent is a great addition to our Coleman camping collection!!!! Lots of space is afforded by the unique Octagonal design and affordable as well!!!! Thanks so much to Coleman for providing first class gear for the camping season!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We LOVE it! This tent was absolutely stunning! Very spacious and made us feel like we were home. It was super easy to put up and take down. It was extremely breathable as well. The only complication we had was the metal poles seemed to be cracked, but Coleman took care of us and replaced it. Couldn't be any happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent. Easy set up We just got back from using the tent on a short trip. Easy set up and Take down. Great space No rain, which was the main reason we chose this model. Would have given 5 stars, but the tent carrier bag came unstitched in a small section next to the zipper. Otherwise a great tent.
Date published: 2019-06-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tent The tent is amazing. The set up is very easy and color coded. Lots of room inside for a large queen air mattress and plenty of extra space. I love the hinge door. I wish it came with instructions of how to fold it back up after. We made it work but it never fits the way it came.
Date published: 2019-08-12
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent Easy to put up and very spacious and sturdy. I would have given this a five star rating but a couple of simple things would make it extremely family friendly. 1. A spot for an electrical cord to enter. 2. It would have been nice if this would have the poles to make a door.
Date published: 2020-02-20
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tent!! This tent was extremely easy to put up and can easily be done alone. Tip: before you put the last tent poles in, stretch the fly over the middle hub so that you can easily reach it once the last poles are in. This makes it truly simple for one person to erect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I have used this tent for scout camp each of the last three years. Rain or shine, this tent always beats my expectations. This year my son asked for the same tent for him and his friends. Same result for them at scout camp. 2 for 2 Coleman!!!
