It works just like a grill that's not portable, but I dont have to much to base on since this is out first gas grill, portable or not! I was a bit confused at first while getting it started I thought you would need to use a match to start it but once I read over the instructions again I realized that was just one of the ways to start it. Our burgers and chicken turned out just as they should. Now to clean up and why I gave 4 out of 5 stars, there is a spot to add water and I assume it's to help with cleaning,BUT it made things a little more messy for me, I would definitely suggest wearing bummed out clothes when you clean because it can be a bit of a mess just to clean, other than that small flaw this is our new favorite way to cook. Whether at the beach or in the backyard you will be sure to love!

I originally bought this grill to do a few hamburgers, and hot dogs since my lil cousin was going to be playing at The University Of Miami...needed a good grille asap! This grill has done just that, and so much more...went so far as to purchasing the griddle, and burner attachments. This grill lives on the back of my truck. Someone tell Santa that I need a updated version of this same one!

It’s easy to clean, you can fit enough food on it for multiple People and it cooks evenly. I’ve used more “higher” end grills and this one honestly blows them out of the water. Perk is that this can be brought anywhere. It doesn’t weigh much and it Folds up nicely.

The lid does not latch well, like others have said. I had good results cooking meat or veggies. The three burners were nice. HOWEVER, the pressure regulator failed within one year and I cannot find any replacement parts. The Coleman website seems only to sell parts for "regular" grills.

We are a small family of 3 and wanted something smaller we could use on our back porch but could also take on trips. For this, it served its purpose. However, after only one season of use, we can no longer use it because the water tray has rust and there is no replacement to be purchased, even though the tray is removable. Because of this one vital part, it is no longer usable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by IrishTailgater from Perfect for tailgating and a great purchase! I bought this grill in the fall of 2022 for tailgating at ND football games. I've used it 11 times, the last time was last weekend and the next time is this coming weekend. The only complaint that I have is that the extending shelf on one side was a little faulty after the first use. Not a huge deal as I am able to still use it. Everything else about the grill is great. The burners are all still in good working order and the grill heats up evenly throughout. The burners ignite on the first press of the ignition button every time. It generates a good amount of heat and I'm able to cook everything fairly quickly for a small grill. The rest of the construction of the grill is solid. I've had no issues with the sturdiness of it at all. It's lightweight and portable and I'm able to load and unload with relative ease. Everyone who sees me grilling on this grill loves it. I would buy this grill again in a heartbeat.

We don’t have space for a big bulky grill, and since we don’t use it all the time I love that this can be easily hidden away when we don’t need it. The side panels feel very sturdy. It uses the small propane tanks, which could be annoying if you use it a lot. For me it’s perfect since they take up even less space.

It heats up fast and cooks food evenly, which is awesome. I like that it’s easy to fold up and roll wherever you need it. The cooking surface is big enough for a bunch of burgers or veggies at once. It’s a little bulky, but for how much you can cook, it’s totally worth it.

I love how it folds down for easy moving. But my favorite thing is how any dripping fat/oil/whatever, doesn't touch the burners. That is a great feature! I haven't had any problems with removing the water tray. Just take your time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jerryneedsaburner from Burners gave out after a yeae I loved this grill. It was great for my patio space. The only problem is, my burners didn’t make it past one year. They light, but the grill doesn’t get hot anymore and the flame is barely a flicker. I can’t seem to find replacement burners anywhere. I’d recommend this grill to anyone, if I was able to replace those, and hopefully have them last a bit longer.

It is so easy to set up and take down and fits perfectly in the back of my car without taking up all the space. It’s perfect for a trip to the lake, beach, or park as well as tailgating at football games or just around the house. I love that we no longer have to drive around to find an open grill on our outings. We just park and set up wherever we want to eat. It’s one hand set up and take down is so easy with no fuss. It has 3 separate burners that can be adjusted individually to cook multiple items. You can also buy additional cook tops to switch out the grill grates with a griddle or stove grate. The grill uses a 1lb propane tank that can be switched out easily so you never have to worry about the weather your cooking in. We plan to camp this week and will be using this as our sole means for cooking. It's easy to clean and I definitely recommend!

I have the half-griddle side which is perfect for steak and eggs, or fajitas. I highly recommend this unit! The folding feature with the wheels allows for storage in an rv as well as dragging it through sand at the beach.

I rolled it out to the truck to load it in and as I was opening the tailgate, the grill came unhinged from the frame and plopped over onto the concrete. The top of the grill is now dinted and severely scratched up and I hadn't even used it. UGH!

Everything I have cooked on it turned out wonderful. I have used it to cook almost all meats and even put a cast iron frying pan on it and fried bacon and eggs. I would very much so recommend to my best friends to purchase one of these awesome grills.

You can find all the correct parts, hoses and adaptors that will fit but this grill does not work with the low pressure quick connects. I found a video on how to make an adaptor but unless you can find the correct metric to NPT adaptor you are out of luck.

My favorite thing is we can take it with us any where and it can be stored away in tight spaces. It’s so easy to clean up afterwards. My fiancé hasn’t stopped grilling since. We definitely plan on using it more often during the summertime.

Only negative was that the store only stocked green and I wanted red or blue. No biggie. Love that you can pull the the grill plates off and wash in the sink. Fuel holds on a long time. I only run two burners since it's just my wife and I. A great buy!!

I don't know of any other BBQ that has this feature and that is why I keep coming back for other items. Doing the cleaning after the food is done is the worst part of the BBQ process. But, we've used this a couple times so far and it's really good for a small grill. The only thing we have to get used to is how to fold it up, the legs are confusing, but other than that, it's a nice sturdy grill.

The old grill took up at least five time the space in the garage that this one does. No more lugged big propane cylinders. I wish they would have included a cap tor the gas connection when the bottle is off.

My favorite features are the 3 burners, water drip tray (super easy cleaning with no grease fires), and its portable. If you want above average quality with above average features than get the Coleman RoadTrip 285.

The Swaptop Carry Case for the Coleman RoadTrip grill accessories can hold two cooktops at a time, this includes any combination of half griddles, stove grates, or grill plates. So unfortunately, it cannot store all three cooktops (2 grates and 1 griddle) simultaneously inside the main compartment.
