Rated 2 out of 5 by Camper 76 from Fast easy setup by terrible in rain I bought this instant up tent to replace a 30 year old coleman canvas 8 by 10 cabin tent which never leaked even in heavy rain and wind and is still a great tent but heavy and time consuming to set up and take down. Loved how quick the instant up tent is to set up and take down and how light it is to transport. Problem is the seam where the floor is connected to the walls leaks in even light rain and having a rain fly does not help. Sad to say but coleman quality is not what it used to be. After two uses, brought back to store to replace and have same problem. Its an inherent problem in the manufacturing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Larkrise from Tent is NOT Rainproof At All I loved this tent . . . until I actually used it. I put it up in my yard to make sure I could do it myself and it went up with ease. Then, I took it on my first camping trip last weekend. Again, it went up with ease, staked it out and I was so happy with it. Four hours later the rain came and the tent leaked in on all the seams and water seeped thru the walls. The floor of the tent had so much water I had to move all my gear to the center of the tent and moved to my car to sleep. I did purchase and use the additional rainfly and staked it and the tent out properly. I had high hopes for this tent, So, this is very disappointing, time to look for a replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Kat44 from Not water resistant nor waterproof. Used this in dry weather and it worked great. In the rain, this is a sponge for water. We had several inches of water after a night of rain. Miserable. Water leaked at each and every seam. After a while, it just came straight in through the walls and ceiling. Don’t call this weatherproof and sell a separate rain fly. Honestly, the rain fly will not help if you get more than a few minutes of sprinkling of rain. Skip this tent unless you’re camping where there is zero moisture in the air.

Rated 3 out of 5 by mep1811 from Nice tent but not in the rain Fast to set up and roomy. NOT FOR USE IN RAINY CONDITIONS. First, all the seams need to be sealed and the tent sprayed with additional waterproofing. The rain fly design is such that the water running off the fly drips right into the bottom the window causing the tent to fill with water. On a recent trip we had to rig a tarp to act as a rain fly. Once we did, that we were dry inside. The sides need loops like in front and back to stake the sides out. vWould be very helpful in windy conditions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Mando from Not good in NZ windy conditions Bought this tent a few years ago. I absolutely love how easy this tent is to put up, but it has a lot of things that could be improved. Better waterproofing. Also the way the tent is designed water flows into the window areas! Not a great design. Also it is hopeless in windy conditions, the tent poles buckle inwards with even mild NZ wind conditions, we even had the tent completely blow down in one gust of wind, breaking 1 pole elbow. The tent design also doesn't have enough peg hole points to anchor the tent down properly, this would be a big help in the wind. All in all I still like this tent for its easy setup but its not going any further then the back lawn as I wouldn't trust it to stay up in normal NZ wind conditions.

This tent is definitely it! It truly takes only a few minutes. The inside keeps you dry even in heavy rain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Cathleen from Will not stop leaking! I’ve had this tent for 2 years. Super easy for 1 person to set up and lots of room inside. However, it gets completely saturated if it rains! I keep trying different tarps, 4cans of tent dry spray (inside and out) but nothing seems to work! Do not buy if you camp anywhere it rains! Coleman, I truly wish I could get my money back on this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tones from Great instant tent I read the reviews about water leaking. So, I purchased a heavy-duty brown tarp sized 14x20 ft. Either just put it over the tent if there are no trees, or suspend it with paranoid. I went through a tropical storm recently with 6 inches of rain and 50 mph winds. Not a drop of rain inside, plus it gives me protection at the door. Tent is so easy to put up. No additional parts. Nice quality and very spacious. It also looks good. I love it.

We understand that you want to know how much liquid seam sealer is required to put in the seam of Coleman 6-Person Instant Cabin. We would appreciate the opportunity to check on your inquiry. Please be advised that the waterproofing of a tent usually becomes necessary after a few years of using it. If your tent is new and has not been exposed to a lot of UV rays, you should not have to waterproof it! When setting up your new tent, please be sure to stake the tent out well, use all your guy lines and all the Velcro straps when you put on the rain fly. Those few things are critical when it comes to the performance of our tent in rainy or windy conditions. Attaching all the Velcro when putting on the rain fly will insure a good, sturdy and wind resistant overall structure of the tent. Using all your guy lines will help to guide the water away from seams and windows if it does rain. The basic rule for setting guy lines on a tent is to stake them out tight at a 45&deg; angle. The stake would normally be about 5 to 6 feet from the tent's main body, depending on the size of your tent.
