Rated 5 out of 5 by JazzIn Jeff from Flagship of Lanterns Originally I purchased the Northstar Duel Fuel to add to my collection of gas lanterns, but this thing is awesome, I have been reading mixed reviews about the Northstar and had concerns before I was able to get one. The features I really like are the ignition battery to light the lantern, self cleaning so no more “cranking” the cleaner brush, and the brightness of the light output. If there is a complaint it has nothing to do with the lantern (other than red color would be nice), but the lack of accessories. I would like to see a hard case with storage for the funnel and extra mantels, a reflector to direct light, and a larger hat to keep rain water off off the hot glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Widowmaker from the Best lantern ever I bought one and loved it so much I went and bought another new one. Mine are older now but working better than ever. Never had a minute of trouble with either of mine. A friend said his surged. So when I checked it he would not light the mantle before using gas. He would just light it up with gas. We put a new mantle on. Stuch a lighter to it before adding gas. Then used Colman fuel. Never surged again. He's used both fuels since but gets more run time with Colman fuel. I also run mine full open to let it warm up before turning it down a little. My wife and I are going to purchase 4 more during Christmas. 2 of them are going to our son. These are the BEST ever. ( Thank you Colman for the best lanterns ever!, Bar none..)

Rated 5 out of 5 by MRM1 from A great lantern I purchased this lantern last year and us it for camping and lighting up my deck in the evenings for effect. It provides plenty of light and I have had no issues with it. My parents had a Coleman fueled lantern for camping when I was a kid. This is where I learned to light, operate, and maintain these wonderful light sources. I am so glad that these are still made. An extra added bonus is that it provides a lot of heat in case you are placed in an off-grid scenario, by choice or otherwise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous from Coleman Consumer Service - 50110778 I bought this lantern almost a month ago from Coleman.com, but my lantern came with the wrong ventilator and bail assembly, so I haven’t been able to use it. If you’re thinking about buying this lantern, know that Coleman may send you a box of mismatched parts instead. If you contact Coleman Consumer Service about it, you’ll be ignored. So maybe don’t buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Taggart from Heirloom quality I've had this lantern since the mid-1990s and it still works like new. Mantles are sort of fragile but cheap and easily replaceable... they last longer if handled and transported upright. I highly recommend getting Coleman's plastic carry case which does a great job of protecting the lantern and makes it easier to pack and carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by buckbrow1 from Seems to work great So far so good. It's lit up every time I've needed it too so far. Still is made in the USA save for the globe, that's what made be decide to buy a new lantern as opposed to buying an old one. The only real complaint is that the sticker is garbage and is already bubbling off. The sticker on my new Stove is also garbage and the lettering wore off somewhat after a normal cleaning. I also dislike that the the model numbers are really confusing now, since they got rid of the older numbering convention.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Big Bear from Best lantern ever! The Northstar DF lantern is top of the line - it just doesn’t get any better than this. Easy to use, big and bright, stable and sturdy, it does everything one could need a gas lantern to do. I’ve had mine for 15 years and it has never left me in the dark. To ensure the best performance I use white gas exclusively in all my Coleman camp gear, some of which is over 50 years old and still going strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Deerslayr from Survival Must Have Gonna keep it short. Coleman Dual Fuel is a must have for everyone. I have been using these lanterns for more than 40 years. I was taught that every family of 5 should have no less than 3 of these lanterns with 6 sets of mantles for each. Do your own research on lighting indoor and out. Attached photo is one of my laterns burning out the old fuel in 30 mph winds with heavy, cold rain. Occasional flickering like electric, but no failure
