Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large, strong and easy to set up! We took this tent for 4 days in Flagstaff, Arizona in May. Unfortunately, the weather was cold, rainy with strong gusts of wind. Our tent stood up to the wind and rain just fine. It is very well made. However, due to the large netted vents on top, it is not appropriate for cold weather. Fortunately, we had an electric site and we used an electric heater which made the difference. We live in Southern California near desert areas which is why we purchased this type of tent. We look forward to a desert vacation in the near future. I know that this tent will perform wonderfully!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst tent I’ve ever tried Got at Costco. Set up was ok. Found a rip where the seam was not sewn almost instantly. It’s an awkward design. Windows are pointless. Darkroom makes it an OVEN in the sunshine. LEAKS FROM OVERNIGHT DEW. It didn’t even rain and we had a puddle inside from THE DEW overnight. Interior walls were wet and dripping. Worst tent I’ve ever tried. It’s going back and I’m done with Coleman. Complete junk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Slightly disappointed We liked the blackout feature of this tent and the door. It was easy to put up and take down. However, as I took it down I found one of the sections of the pole for the door was split in half and there are several places where it looks like the material was punctured or scraped when manufactured and the light comes in. It “sleeps” 10. However, we had 1 queen air mattress, 2 twin air mattresses and a pack n play for our family of 5. Any more may not sleep comfortably unless you sleep like packaged sardines.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed My boyfriend and I purchased this tent and have had to return two brand new tents for manufacturing flaws. There were multiple tent hooks and stake hooks not completely stitched into the seams and two were not attached at all. The window netting had a hole and the bedroom divider was missing an interior hook to hold it in place. We have returned this tent after customer service offered to send us a tent repair kit. No thank you. I want a tent that the first time I set it up everything works properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good in rain First night at Patrick's Point State Park it rained. Water seeped through tent walls. We had rain fly on but it didn't stop rain from coming in through the walls, zippers, and seams. By morning we had puddles inside tent. This was the first time we had used this tent. I have never had a tent do this poorly in my thirty six years of tent camping.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Rain fly has problems These instant up or fast pitch tent are pretty good unless it rains. The rain fly does not protect the door from water dripping off the rain fly, so each time you go in or out water drips into the tent. This is also true of the windows unless almost completely zipped up. The rain fly really does need to be re-designed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Swimming in the rain The seams are not taped at the base of the tent. Rain just comes right through. Puddles all the way around.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dark Room Is AMAZING, Waterproofing Is NONEXISTENT Got this tent for Mother's Day and was so excited to try it out. The dark room feature is great! Even car headlights didn't get in. That's where the excitement ends... It rained the 2nd and 3rd nights of our trip, and we had water EVERYWHERE! I don't mean drops, I mean puddles. The door, which was zipped completely, was the worst place. A large beach towel in front of the door was completely soaked through. This tent will be going back immediately which actually makes me quite sad, considering how nice the darkness was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, roomy, and weathered the storm. Used mine at a festival in upstate NY. It was easy to setup, by far the easiest tent setup we've ever had!! It was darker, but not pitch black. Actually using all of the stakes and lines was key for air circulation, otherwise it gets stuffy quick. We had a night of severe thunderstorms, which the tent withstood fairly well. I left the tent briefly in the middle of the storms, and realized that the door was only velcrod as we'd forgot to zip it. We still had minimal leakage, however I would highly recommend zipping up all of the doors and windows to the top, this way the rain fly can do it's job. The tent was cool enough to relax in during 80 plus days, which was really nice. The dark room technology also adds a level of privacy at night, as people outside could barely see when our lights were on at night.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Darker technology We have had the praire tent and love it. This one would be better with the door in the center like the prarie one. Also wish the rainflys were a bit lower so when raining you can have the windows open for ventelation. Come on Coleman you can improve it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof I read a few reviews and was concerned with all the comments about leaks, but there were also good reviews that talked about not having any leaks. I really wanted this tent to work for me. The dark technology is a plus and it is fairly easy to set up. However, this tent is not an "instant tent". I believe they have changed the design as you now have to attach poles to the center and sides, instead of having poles that fold out from the center, like on the 6 and 4 person instant tents that Coleman has. There are four main issues with the design that lead to leaking: 1. The canopy is not taught and droops into the tent. This leads to water collecting and dripping heavily into the doors and windows 2. The seams are poorly sealed. There are seams at the base where you can see light coming through. This is disheartening as some seams have an extra layer of plastic protection around them, but the majority don't. If all the seams had this plastic, I think a lot of the leakage issues wouldn't happen. 3.The base seams are lower on this tent then other Coleman designs, which leads to water collecting around the whole base of this tent. 4. Poor door design. If it is raining and you need to go in or out of this tent, you are definitely bringing the rain in with you. (All the water in my tent was without going in or out during the rain) I set this tent up prior to a light rain coming through and it did not hold up. It rained a light drizzle for about 4 hours and I had puddles at both the front and back door. I also had water beading up on the walls and a thin layer of water around the edge. This tent was placed on a flat surface, with a tarp under it and nothing inside it and I still had these issues. I will be returning this tent right away. I'm just happy I tested it in the back yard first!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great tent but not waterproof I bought this tent for the large group of single parents I go camping with and was excited for the black out feature and being able to possibly promote kids sleeping in. That feature worked great but unfortunately it rained and it was like a swimming pool under our air mattresses. The water drips straight into the doors when open, and leaked in through the seams. Also, in winds the walls had a tendency to fold in. Disappointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality Feeling a little depressed? Camp in this and you will be. Imagine camping in a black plastic garbage bag that leaks for a weekend. Yeah.... Coleman seems to have forgotten the reason for a rain fly. Water pools behind the screen and sits to leak through the seams in the windows. Going to look elsewhere for our family tent. Returned it to Costco

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really tried to like it !!! I purchased from Costco, really like the room inside. Takes two of us to set up. Definitely dark inside but I open the windows to see and have a light hanging inside. ONLY Con: Water leak at the door even when all zipped up with zippers on the top. It puddles at the front and if the tent is on an uneven area, it runs to the back. I'd like to find a solution because its good quality but we dont want to walk in the water after a night rain. Otherwise I will return back to Costco. I talked to Coleman Customer Service when I needed to find a replacement for the door fiberglass rod, which we would like to get immediately....camping for 3 weeks straight, and on the road, no replacement parts to be found, at any local stores. Customer Service informed me, we probably didn't close the zipper properly....we triple check ourselves and it still leaked in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Check ur setup I have the exact same tent only not the darkroom version and have no complaints. Can’t comment if the darkroom technology changes the waterproofing but mine has endured heavy rain and wind with few problems. My title is “check ur setup” because the few times that I’ve noticed MINOR water in the tent was most likely caused by wicking due to a cot or something else touching the wall during a rain. The sloped walls do mean that water running off the fly does tend to hit the side walls about half way down but I’ve never had the puddling that others have posted. On the most recent trip a rogue windstorm cam out of nowhere and caused a corner to collapse but I straightened it out and we camped for the remaining days without issue. Inspection upon packing up revealed the corner plastic joint connecting the side pole to the roof pole had split. Customer service is sending replacement at no cost. So if ur tent is leaking an/ or collapsing it just may be the setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Took my kids camping on the river monsoon season we had unexpected thunder lightning heavy rain wind gusts of 30-40 MI tent held up like a charm I bought this because I'm a single mother who's 5 ft and I like to go camping and I have two little kids that really don't help out just get in the way so this pop-up tent is extremely easy to set up and take down not too heavy I was able to load it on top of my car I love the blackout feature. I would suggest making a rain fly to go over it with clear panels so you can still see the sky/rain that would be nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roomy, affordable and dark! As a new Committee member of a cub scout pack I felt compelled to stay at the overnight camp out. Previously, my idea of camping was going someplace wooded and staying at the local Holiday Inn. The black out tent was great. It went up easy, took a little bit to take down, but it was great to have the skylights since we were able to pack up the morning after in bright light. It was ridiculously roomy for my family of 5 with 3 twins and a queen blow up mattress, we still had a lot of walk around room. It was the tent to hang in when it started to rain, and everyone stayed dry.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Manufacturing Defect Two poles on the back do not extend or telescope. This probably explains how they were installed incorrectly D-Pole was flipped 180 degrees. This made the back of the tent not stand up straight. Design suggestion. Do not use the black elastic covers on the hinge points. It gets caught in the hinge during installation and makes it very challenging to fold the legs back over. It also makes it less clear how the mechanism is supposed to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable Mansion in the woods of Alaska! Love, love, love this tent. Took it out over last weekend! It’s like a mansion in the woods! That’s what came to mind in our outing. It rained like crazy the first night and my boys and I stayed dry! Also we live in Alaska where you have up to 23 hrs of daylight. Love the dark room technology, it helped us to sleep when we needed too! Keep up the good work Coleman!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT buy this tent! Do NOT buy this tent! It looks super cool online (and in person when it's functional) and the blackout technology works, but we after 3 uses that cool blackout film is bubbling and peeling from all tent surfaces. Not only that, but it will not stand up on its own without the rain fly and lines staked to the ground at all times. If you're able to extend all poles (not a guarantee with this design) you won't have to wait long for one side to begin collapsing. This was my growing family's first tent (family of 4) and I can't trust the coleman brand for my next purchase. I can't believe I didn't see these types of reviews before making my purchase. Now that I've had these issues it seems like it's more common with this tent than I thought.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little disappointed Only 2 problems with this tent. DOES NOT stand up in the rain. Short showers of rain are ok, but 24hrs if light to moderate rain is a no go. The tent leaks at all sealed seams and the doors. Second issue are the doors. Love the two but zipping them is a bit of a nightmare. Size is great and set up is very easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ive loved this for 3+ years now with my Family Originally got this to help our growing family (needed room for our Rotweiler, German Shepherd, and two boys under 4). We have really got our moneys worth out of this.. Lots of stand up room (I’m 6’), space for our pack n play, cot, and queen size air mattress for my queen. The blackout has been nice for the babys’ naps (with sound machine and Coleman hanging fan/light. All that being said, I am back on this sight to find a replacement for the rain tarp. It has worn after all the use (Coleman: if you could help direct me that would be awesome). Also, living in KS, we have been hit with some pretty viscous unexpected winds, and have needed to tie it down quickly. If you properly orient this tent with wind direction, and stake down hard, this tent is sturdy. (If you don’t the poles and side may bonk ya). Fair disclosure I set up my tent and waterproof/ scotch guard my stuff at the beginning of each year; it has kept us dry in some good Kansas storms. I would recommend this to any family looking to camp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Huge tent, great features! I love this tent! This took less than 10 minutes to set up and is absolutely huge! We set it up out back to check it out and ended up camping in the backyard! The room divider and the hook to hold a light are amazing features. I can put my son to bed early, and sleep in with the dark technology. It works exactly as it says. This is a great product, a great brand and the look of the tent is beautiful. We will definitely be camping this summer and using this tent moving forward. Thank you for the opportunity to review this tent! I highly recommend for any camping experience!!!! You won't regret this one!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent tent for the price. We bought our tent several weeks ago from Costco. We bought the tent for the size and height. I'm 6'3 and can stand up comfortably inside. The tent was easy to set up for my wife and I. Having the dark room tech was nice as we were able to sleep later in the morning and not have it really bright in the tent like you would have in a regular tent. The only issues we had with rain and leaks over this past holiday weekend was at the door. 1. Water would pool up when door would be opened. 2. Water would drip in at the lower zipper stop near the door rod weldment. This area also was caved inward. This may have been due to not pulling the base taught enough when staking the tent Corners and center ring. I will check that on our next trip in two weeks. Although you could see light through some of the seams we didn't have any other leaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice Tent Overall this tent will be a nice upgrade for us from the old Instant Tent Model. We had the 8 person one previously so we are getting an extra 2 feet in width and an extra couple inches in standing height. The material over the years for Coleman tents seems to be depreciating a little bit over the years which is why I gave this a 4 star review. The tarp part on the bottom of the tent is somewhat thin but as long as you place the tent on a tarp and do not put sharp objects inside the tent you should be able to avoid holes. Their wall fabric is also a little bit thin and the stitching could be thicker. There were points in the seams where I can see light coming through. I think a little bit of increased cost in manufacturing would help this tent really stand out. As it is though - you have to purchase it with the understanding at most it will probably only last a few years with heavy use. I really like the addition of the extension cord insert in the corner and the auto door is an improvement on the previous door - although it still is hard for taller people to crouch down and get in (you lost some height of the door from the previous version). The dark room technology is nice - but I don't believe it helps keep the tent cooler. In fact - it gets very claustrophobic in there very quickly if the sun is out and the windows are shut. It will be VERY nice for sleeping though. The price was good for the quality because I was able to snag this on-sale. Would have been more disappointed if I had paid full price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far So Good So far so good, I have used my instant cabin tent 3 separate trips now and have no real complaints except I do wish the rain fly was lower down the sides of the tent as well as offered an awning for the front. To compensate that i just placed a tarp above the tent for added protection and to give me an awning . Takes absolutely no time at all to set it up and to tear it down. it does help to have another person to help but I was able to do both setup & tear down on my own. My first trip was 4 nights, second was 7 nights, & third trip was 3 nights. All trips had periods of heavy rains and wind and this tent held up fine. The Dark Room works great for those mid day naps on the rainy days. Make sure to have ample lighting in your tent because even in the middle of the day its dark inside if flaps are zipped closed. My wife, daughter, & I slept comfortably all 3 trips. We love this tent and think it will work until we purchase a camper or build a small cabin on our family land.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent, depending on what you’re using it for I really like this tent! But there are a few pros and cons. The pros are that a single person can set it up in about 10 minutes. It stays very dark and cool in there and it can fit about four queen size blowup mattresses inside. The cons are that it did leak a little bit at the seams at the bottom and the doors. If you are wanting to hang out in the tent and have all the doors and windows closed due to weather, there is not very good ventilation and it’s very, very dark and absorbs the light of your lantern. so I guess it really depends on the personal preference of what you’re using it for.
