Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value for money, easy set up, waterproof Backstory (if you're interested): Our old Coleman tent finally gave out so it was time for new one. Although I've always been a fan of Coleman I didn't budget for a new one so I thought it might be time for a change to something cheaper. Brand isn't everything right? I researched pretty extensively (I'm a nerd like that) and, from what I found, this tent was the best value in terms of features and durability. Comparison: In short, the budget ones found I found in discount stores are basically for the backyard in mild / dry conditions so they were obviously out of the question. Canvas tents are apparently the best option if you want waterproofing that will last 30+ years (To be clear, that doesn't mean canvas lets in less water, just that they'll continue to block out the water for longer due to the durability of the fabric). My Dad has a canvas tent he's taken with him all over the world and I have to admit - if you care for them properly (constant re-spraying of waterproofing, storing in completely dry conditions etc) they will indeed hold up. But, they're 2-3 times heavier than these tents and don't pack up as small. Not to mention the fact that they're also 2-3 times more expensive! So I found myself back at the higher end brand comparison for these 'pop up' style tents. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: To be clear, we've only used it once, but here's what we found. Because we were forced to set up and pack down our old one 24 hours prior to buying this new one we had a unique ability to compare the 14 year old Coleman 8 person tent we had with this one. ***Set up: I didn't read instructions (I'm a guy, we never need them, right?!) and I had the whole thing up in 30 minutes. That is including having to take the whole thing down once because I messed it up and we needed to change the orientation to face a different direction, though. So technically that first set up without instructions could have been 15-20 minutes (inclusive of time to figure out which poles go where) so I think it's pretty intuitive. ***Waterproofing: We had a storm coming through the area we were camping so waterproofing was as critical as ever, obviously. We had leaks everywhere the night before, this new one held up perfectly well. Zero leaks, seams and zippers all did well to keep the water out. The rainfly that comes with it is actually raised off the fabric of the roof of the tent by the tent poles that form the structure of the roof. So it acts like an exoskeleton. Looked weird to me at first, but when the rainfly went over it all made sense, looked great and worked perfectly. We closed all the windows though, but we never assumed that it would be waterproof with them open. ***Convenience + Comfort: Space is good (great for two people if you want to glamp like us!) and the dimensions make sense (I'm 6"1' and can stand comfortably in the middle). I was skeptical about the 'dark room technology' stuff, but because I am light sensitive it was a huge draw card. It did exactly what it said!! No more eye masks or feeling drowsy because too much light was coming through the tent in the morning for me to sleep. I couldn't even tell what time it was when we woke up the next morning, game changer for me. We camped in relatively cold weather so no idea if it actually reduces the heat or not. Packs up easier than the last one did, and the bag it goes into is a long rectangle which made storage and travel much easier than the older one we had. ***Negatives: The zippers around the main doors have a fabric flap over them and, while they did well to protect from the rain, took some getting used to because they constantly got stuck in the zippers. The fabric is super durable so it didn't cause any tears.. but we became frustrated after needing to go in and out of the tent a lot and getting snagged. Small issue, with an easy fix.. but it bugged us. The framed 'latch door' function also didn't work well for us, we ended up just using the zipper - which admittedly - I got the hang of in the end and was fine. The rainfly and front awning wasn't practical in wet weather, it would be great to have a larger foot print to sit underneath with some extra (side?) protection while under the awning from wind and rain (and nosy neighbours). Would be nice not to have to buy an extra rainfly, gazebo or tarp for that purpose. CONCLUSION: I thought it was weird to see so many bad reviews about the waterproofing in particular so thought I'd share my experience. This first use confirmed a few things that were important for us; quick and easy set up, waterproof during a medium intensity rain storm (hardly any wind though - so overall not a hurricane, just medium-heavy rain), cool features (I can sleep so much better with the 'dark room' tech), slightly lighter than the old version, packs up nicely. In summary, it's a well thought out product that delivers on the basics very well with some minor things to consider for future iterations (e.g. zipper cover snags). If you want something that does more it will be at least double-triple the price from what I found in 2020.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love!! I recently used this tent for a camping trip, and it exceeded my expectations! It’s incredibly spacious, easily fitting a group with plenty of room to spare. Setup was surprisingly simple for such a large tent, and the included rainfly offers excellent protection during bad weather. The materials feel durable, making it reliable for multiple trips. Overall, this tent is comfortable, practical, and perfect for families or group camping. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Large tent that fits plenty! So this is my first time using or setting up a tent on my own. I must say it was a bit challenging to do on my own, even as a pop up. Make sure you have another person with you when setting up (maybe that's already a rule for this, lol). I feel like I'd need a bit more stability in case of higher winds. The dark room concept is very nice and although it's not blackout dark, for me, it's perfect for what I need. I'm really glad I got to try this tent out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome looking tent! From my first impressions, this is an absolute unit! Very high quality, well built and most impressively, super spacious. I can’t wait to take this bad boy out camping when spring comes around. I’ve been watching several Youtube videos reviewing this exact model and it looks absolutely a pleasure to camp with setup being super easy. If you want to camp in luxury, a Coleman tent is where you want to be, and this instant tent setup is an absolute pleasure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set up This was super easy to set up as we received this product in the middle of winter and while we were having horrible winds and ice we set it up in the garage so I’m sorry for no photo. But after the easy set up it was very spacious for a group of friends or a larger family. Plenty of space to bring along your extra items and have them off to the side. And we are looking forward to unlocking the full potential of this guy in the spring/summer/fall.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from broken out of the box, leaky tent well, i biught this tent for a camping trip. set it up in the yard to make sure it was good, well, nope quy rope for rain fly internal part sticking out, not a biggie i biught extra at Dicks any way. spring pole for the D door broken before use. i didnt have time to return the tent as the trip was the next day. it did with stand 15 to 25 MPH winds but i had extra tiedowns on it. does not like rain at all rain fly is not large enough to cover the tent, you cant open the doors in the rain as water off the fly runs straight in and had to put a towel down ater all around due to the same issue on the windows. Overall if it doesnt rain a decent tent for summer dry time camping, i am now looking to but a different type of tent as this will be given to my children to use. expensive and not what i expected cant hunt, or fish in fall in a leaky tent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great material and well built Received this tent for free from infuenster for my honest review! Absolutely love it! Not complicated to set up at all. With it being colder out I didn’t get a picture because we were hurrying to get it up and down but trying it out to see how it goes up and down! It stays quite dark in the inside so it would make great for sunny days when you want to go in and cool off or just to take a nap when camping! Very great quality and very durable!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Second Coleman tent in a row that broke on 1st use These tens are expensive. The first time I used it was just after the one year warranty and the pole broke trying to open it up. This is my second Colin intent in a row that a pool broke. Just trying to open it. I now have two broken tents in my garage that are essentially brand new and garbage. I sent in all the photos and told them that it was the first time use and it is not being covered because it is outside of the one year warranty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive, leaks first use, black out peeling off This is the 3rd time I have used this tent in 3 years and the inside is peeling. Honestly, even with weather proofing it leaked rain the very first time we used it. Have been very sad and disappointed about the investment we made in this tent especially since our 8 person Coleman we bought in 2011 is still working perfectly. We thought investing in another Coleman tent would be great but have been left soggy and needing a new tent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great for nice weather. I have used this tent in the front yard of a summertime camp for the past 14 months. That equals about 5 trips total. This last trip was the first time we have had rain. Epic fail the water came in at the bottom seam just above the floor. This was not a flooded yard just water running down the outside. It was a light rain that lasted four hours. The tent is still in like new condition. Just do not count on it in the rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Tent, nice dark interior Quick, easy setup. Interior is just as advertised. It's nice and dark, blocks out light, so you don't need to feel like you need to get up with the sun. I am pretty new to tenting, so I had concerns about setting up and tearing down. It really was quite simple. Durability will be tested when I actually have a chance to test it in the wild. For now, I'd say it seems like it would be durable and would last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Family time I am in love with this tent for many reasons it's huge ! You can fit more then 10 people in there it's one big open floor plan so it's more for a family & not couples you have a safe study shelter over you. I feel safe in this tent & I don't really like them because of many reasons! You have a safe dry warm tent that can fit your whole family of ten or more absolutely love this and can't wait to camp in the summer !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for hot or cold weather My family and I had fun putting the tent together. It only took a few minutes. It was basically popping everything in place then securing it. The features are very nice I love that you can have the door open but there is a mesh to stop the flies from coming inside if you want to use it. The tent also has windows. It’s very chilly out today and once inside the tent you could hardly tell. 10/10 recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is massive! Not only does it have the ability to hold 4 queen sized beds, it’s also made with dark room technology that makes it easy to put kids to bed early or sleep in late! This thing makes camping so cozy! I received this product free from Influenster to test, and already can’t wait to go camping! The instant set up really makes it a great tent that sets up in 60 seconds so you can enjoy the great outdoors

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of room for everyone This tent is perfect for large groups, long term camping, and families that just need to space out. I have a small family so this tent is perfect for us to be able to space out from each other. We also have dogs so it they can have some walking space in the tent as well. Takes a bit of time to set up but not too long. It does a great job of keeping the water out and the material is very sturdy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick to set up I recently used the Coleman 10 persone dark room instant cabin tent on a weekender trip and was really impressed. The instant setup was super easy it practically went up in minutes. The the dark room really helped block the morning sun, and the rainfly keept us dfy during a shower . If felt stable in wind and sturdy overall. There’s plenty of room to move around, and the design make it simple

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this tent!! Its awesome I bought this because I'm a single mother who's 5 ft and I like to go camping and I have two little kids that really don't help out just get in the way so this pop-up tent is extremely easy to set up and take down not too heavy I was able to load it on top of my car I love the blackout feature. I would suggest making a rain fly to go over it with clear panels so you can still see the sky

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't purchase! My son purchased the 10 person tent for his family. Great features but when he took the tent down, one of the connector pieces broke. As they were doing other camping trips, he bought the same model tent to replace the broken tent but unfortunately they discarded the broken tent. We borrowed the tent and the same thing happened when we took the tent down. This time we helped get all the information for the warranty and submitted it. No feedback received. Since we broke the tent, we recently replaced it with the same tent as he had not heard back from customer service. Also, during our camping trip it rained and it is definitely not waterproof. Coleman should definitely be providing the connector parts to either purchase or part of their warranty since they break so easily. They are very easily removed. Don't buy unless you plan to purchase two tents at the same time for replacement parts!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible in the rain We used this tent 9 times at various camping sites and loved it...until last month when we were camping and during the early morning hours, it rained solid for 2 hours and this thing is just THE WORST IN THE RAIN...oh yeah, the rain-fly "worked" but only comes out about 10 inches from the top, so it just runs off and lands half-way down every wall of the tent. in those 2 hours, we had 3 inches of water in the back 1/3 of the tent. Once we figured out that the rain was going to continue for another 2 hours, my family of 5 packed up in the downpour and I promptly hauled the waterlogged tent up to the dumpster. Side note, the pole that you use for the door was broken by my youngest and trying to find a dang replacement was impossible as Coleman does not have that exact pole to use. I called customer support and she gave me another model number that "might work" At this point, I was glad I never bothered replacing it...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very roomy and great quality What a nice tent has lots of room and space really does keep the light out well. Also super easy set up very easy took about 25 minutes total with unpacking reading instructions and setting up I’m very excited to try it this summer unfortunately for now all I could do was set it up and take it down as I live in Maine and it’s far to cold to go camping right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase ever!! I recently purchased this tent for a camping trip to New Hampshire. It sets up in no time, and folds away perfect. One of the easiest tents I've ever had. The darkroom is probably the best part of this tent, I was able to sleep past sunrise.
