Rated 2 out of 5 by from First set up=broken piece, questionable design I purchased this despite some negative reviews because it is a good size and has the screen area which was a feature I specifically wanted. It’s just me and my 6 year old so at first I was afraid I’d gotten something too big. I decided to set it up in the yard to check it out before our trip. Well, the good news is it is not too big. I can stand up in it (at 5’6”) and it will easily fit a queen mattress with room to spare (the measurements seem off in the website description; it is 10x9 in the main part and 5x3 in the porch part. The screen porch is neat and roomy, definitely enough space for two simple chairs and chilling. The bad news is a plastic clip broke when setting it up for the very first time. Just snapped in half while I was securing the pole to it, there was not even any tension on the pole at the time. And I can’t imagine there’s a way to replace just the clip since it’s attached to a nylon band sewn to the tent. Disappointing. The style of the tent is also not as described; it says it has “attached poles” and that is just simply untrue. The poles come folded up in their own carrying bag. There is no place there are attached to the tent. They are attached to the 4 spoke hub that goes on the top of the tent, but both the description and the tent instructions say the poles are attached. Not the case. You bend open the poles with the elastic, clip them on the clips (as long as they don’t break), and heft it up. I needed 2 people to do it, as I could not hold the hub with 4 poles and also get the poles into the base of the tent. Just like the 30 year old tent that I am replacing with this one (though still considering getting that old one back out of the basement, as no parts are broken on it). Other questionable “features” include the porch having a partial mesh floor (apparently for drainage, but the advertisement about “sleep on the porch” is a little misleading with a floor that doesn’t even wholly cover the ground you’re on” and the porch also has 2 slits in the sides where the porch connects to the main tent. Presumably one is for an electrical cord, the other is just its symmetry. But weird to have a screen area that has 2 cracks. I’m not sure I’d recommend this, not sure I even like it to be honest. Makes me think AI designed this and wrote the website and also maybe manufactured it. I was going for an upgrade that would be an easy set up but this is not it. Bummer, Coleman. I specifically bought this as a “household name” brand but am disappointed.

A helpful tip is to make sure the tent is fully dry and tightly folded into long, even sections before rolling it up as tightly as possible, pushing out excess air as you go. Starting from the opposite end of the bag opening can also make it easier to fit back in. It can take a bit of practice, but these steps usually help it pack down more efficiently.

If you have any more questions or comments, please reach out to us via https://www.coleman.com/support/contact-us , at 1-800-835-3278 or through LiveChat. Please be advised that Coleman's MINIMUM hydrostatic head rating for the fabrics in this tent is 450mm. During batch and periodic quality testing we find most of the materials test at a much higher rating. Waterproof materials do not 100% translate to a waterproof tent. The waterproofing of the tent is measured by our rain testing, which simulates a 6" per hour rain. To make our tents as waterproof as possible we tape all of the rainfly seams, use our WeatherTec inverted seams in other area, and use a patented welding process. We also enhance storm worthiness by our rainfly designs. Specifically our rainfly's extend in such a way that runoff or dripping water is unlikely to fall on a door or window area when the tent is properly setup and guyed. Last we use polyester tent bodies and rainfly's, which adds inherent waterproofing as polyester is a hydrophilic (water-fearing/shedding/repelling) material. Also, this tent has protected seams inverted floor seams dramatically increase weather resistance by hiding needle holes inside the tent, away from the elements.

For further questions or inquiries, you may also visit our contact us web form.
