We have had many coleman tents through the years and it appears the quality of the new tents are terrible. We purchased this a while back and finally took it out for a 4 day weekend trip. The black out interior was the positive. The seams were loosely stitched and could see daylight. The corners weren’t any better leaking in all 4 corners. There was 1 small hole in the floor as well. We bought patching materials to fix it for our trip but you should have to “fix” a new tent. We also bought silicone spray to waterproof it while we were doing this to help remedy our leaking tent for the weekend. Going forward I don’t see myself purchasing and Coleman tents. We have had many tents through the years of various brands. We still own the Coleman tenaya which is probably 10-11 years old. It has been a great tent withstanding storms and winds of all sorts. When it wears out completely, I will move on to something better. With the prices in the $200-$250 range, I’ll splurge and go more to a premium brand and expect what I used to get, a quality tent that doesn’t need repaired out of the box.

We took the tent with us on vacation and set it up in my daughters backyard in rural Michigan, so that my wife and I could sleep under the stars. The packaging says the tent can be erected in 5 minutes, but realistically, it's more like 15 minutes when you add in staking-down the corners and guy wires, especially if it's windy during setup. The quality of the materials and stitching is absolutely perfect. The three mesh wall panels have no holes in them and provide an amazing view of the sky. The rain fly is perfectly sewn and guy wire attachment points are well done. When the rain fly is in place, the tent stays quite dark long after sunrise. Heavy condensation covered the tent and rain fly every night, but the inside stayed nice and dry. Two very minor issues: 1. Be sure to bar soap the zippers, to make zipping and unzipping smoother and snag-free. 2. While the tent specs say it will sleep 8, realistically, it's more like 4 people "comfortably". We had a queen air mattress in the tent that took up a little more than half of the floor space. At $200, this is a very fair price for everything that the Dark Room SkyDome has to offer. Overall, we are very pleased with the tent and are looking forward to taking it with us on our future outdoor adventures.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointed in Pismo from Used We bought this tent about 3 months for almost $175, for camping trip early October. Which was canceled due to Covid19. But I had already booked in Pismo for the end of October, which did work out. We thought it was going to be so nice, and easy. Read many reviews, that made it sound awesome. So we opened it and laid everything out. Once we tried to assemble and couldn't figure out why it was difficult, how many of the poles went to which side. Then we realized, all the black rubberband cords, inside the post were broken. either from age or use. We finally figured it out, about 45 minute later. Probably an hour. During the time of placing the post, I noticed holes. I thought it was chew marks. Looking closer, seems to be hammer marks in the silver bottom lining. So if it rained, water would definitely get in. Then as we straightened things out. Noticed more of these marks in the base, and in the actually body of the tent. I was so sad. My husband was upset. I took pictures as we were setting up. But it took so long, my husband didn't want to take it apart and try to find a Dicks out in pismo. Once we got home, I realized I can't find my receipt. So, not only do we have a bad used broken tent, but we are stuck with it. Overall, it was a great tent. I'm afraid to buy another, unless I am able to view in store, to check if it is completely brand new, with no damage. It was spacious. We had a queen size blow up mattress. Still had plenty of room to walk around, place our bags. It is a very nice tent. Thats why I gave it at least 2 stars. It would have probably received 5 stars, if it was not damaged and broken.

Our 8-Person Dark Room&trade; Skydome&trade; Camping Tent is easy to set up, taking less than 5 minutes thanks to pre-attached poles. The poles are color-coded, but they still need to be carefully assembled to avoid confusion.

Tip: Lay out the poles and the tent body before you start assembling. This helps you avoid any mix-ups. Also, make sure you&rsquo;re familiar with the pole connection points to speed up the process.
