Rated 1 out of 5 by from Same factory defect as many others buyers I bought this tent for ease of setup. The first time we set it up in the backyard to make sure it would work properly we discovered multiple factory defects making the tent unusable. The tent has telescoping poles. The problem is 3 of the 4 telescoping top section poles are supposed to slide, but do not budge, making the tent super saggy and unusable. This is clearly poor quality control. We discovered a couple other defects as well that we could live with, but not being able to erect the tent makes this a big fail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holds up in bad weather I used this tent to attend a 4 day camping music festival but unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worst with very high winds and heavy rain for 3 hours. The weather was to dangerous to try to take the tents down due to high wind and lightning so we sat in the car and watched the winds what I thought at the time destroy our tents. I was shocked about how good this tent held up, one pole gave out but just popped back into place, very little moisture got in. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Roomy but not waterproof I used this tent for a camping trip next to the ocean. It did not rain at all but we had puddles of water inside the tent from the water collecting outside the tent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not purchase Purchased for Girl Scouts and family camping. The skeleton that holds the tent up is flimsy, complicated, and apparently not well-engineered. One leg appeared to be assembled upside-down from the factory. This is NOT a "60-second" tent, even after you figure out how it it supposed to work. Good luck trying to put it away without destroying it. Even with care and no force, at least three of the legs are now bent from trying to collapse it. Horrible tent -- very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total Junk Fifth tent I have ever purchased and the only one I asn't able to set up. How ironic that this is my first "quick" setup tent. Ordered it on Wednesday, paid for two day shipping and got it the next Monday. I have no idea how I am going to get this monstrosity in the bag it came in to return it. Also, since shipping was delayed, I had to delay the start of my holiday week. Now I have 18 hours to find a replacement before I have to leave. Third and last Coleman tent I will buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2 weeks in 2 weeks in. 9 days camping. 2 big rainstorms. Cream is too light. Sun is not blocked. Should be checkered or something to help prevent light coming in. Awnings for the windows so when it's raining you can open the windows to get air through. Room divider thought it was 2 separate rooms but doesn't seal anywhere so it's a curtain. Also curtain is cream should be dark to be able to put on ceiling and block light. Doors need one hand open and disappointed they are not magnetic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tent, holds up to high winds I've had this tent for a little over a year and have taken it camping over 10 times. The second time we went camping we got caught in a rain storm with 90 mph straight winds (we evacuated the tent during the storm). The next morning I thought for sure the tent would be a mess. However, we had the tent staked down properly and the tent held up with one corner bending down into the tent and at the opposite corner, the bottom of the tent ripped from the pole. I was able to sew it back on and we kept camping in the tent the remaining 3 nights. When I set the tent up recently I noticed a screw in the top had broken, and so the tent is a little wobbly upon set-up and it likes to twist because the one leg isn't fully secure, but once you get it staked down and the guy-wires secured, the tent is fine. I'm sure if I drill out the screw that is stuck and find another one that fits the same hole I can easily fix that problem, but since the tent works fine as it is now I will not worry about it until it becomes a problem. Some people complain the legs won't extend. I had some difficulties at first, but with more use, they extent more easily and don't get stuck anymore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Instructions please First look up instructions/videos. The instructions are basically reminders. I would suggest setting it up and taking it down before the trip. Putting it up wasn't as bad as trying to get it back together. That being said it's VERY nice. I love the 2 entrances at each end, the divider in the middle to make two room if you choose and all the windows. It seems to be sturdy. I'm excited for the many adventures ahead with my new Coleman 8-person instant tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to set up and plenty waterproof We had the 4 person and decide to go with the 6 person for more room. We have used this tent for a couple of years with no issue. I did seal the seams but had very little rain get in. Moisture from just breathing in the tent has been worse than rain. We survived near 50 mph winds last year in KC. I would recommend this tent but dont expect it to be waterproof. Quick setup for sure, my wife will often set it up while I am hauling more gear to our site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy for the novice! As a solo camper the first time I used this tent, it couldn't have been easier to set up and then take down several days later. I looked up several YouTubes about this tent before using it, and that was helpful! The size was perfect to use as a cabin style tent. Although the temperature was in the 90's during the days, the tent was comfortable during the nights because of the good ventilation and in fact that I put up a shade/rain tarp over the tent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible pole design I purchased this tent because out goat ripped our Coleman Montana tent that I loved. We went with this tent because it has the solid top and i thought it would be less drafty than the screen top. The instant poles are a mess. We followed the instructions to a T. The poles seemed to be twisted wrong from the factory and didn't work as designed. The first time we used it it took some twisting to get the poles extended correctly. The 2nd time 4 adults wrestled to get the tent up and back down. The poles twisted or something. The 3rd time while gently trying to maneuver the poles, one broke and one bent. I had to leave camp and get tools to take the poles apart to get them turned right. I practically begged Coleman to replace the tent or poles or come to some type of resolution. They refused. I've always purchased Coleman camping equipment with no problem. I'm so disappointed in this one and the fact that I got no help from Coleman. I just read other reviews and it seems that most of the complaints involve the poles. Coleman knows that the poles with this tent is major problem but they refuse to do anything about it. I am no longer a loyal Coleman customer. They did tell me I could get 25% off of another tent. If I could afford another tent then I wouldn't have wasted my time trying to get a solution for this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tent, I just replaced my old one Had one for several years and it finally wore out. Lasted longer than any other tent I've had so I bought another one. Make sure the poles are turned the right way at the bend point, you can have them 180 off and it wont get the proper support, once I learned that no more problems. I did however purchase the rainfly for the 8 person tent and they sent me a 14x8 instead of the 14x10 that I needed. They are both 8 person tents, so check your order!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Used it for the first time last week. Set up and take down is easy. One can do it but easiest with 2 people. Thankfully no rain, so not sure how it would have faired with that. Lots of room for a large queen air mattress and 2 people’s stuff. Will look into a rain tarp. It heats up inside the minute the sun comes up. I know it’s a tent but no temperature buffering. Cold outside, colder in the tent. Warm outside, hot in the tent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable, Durable, Roomy Keep on my deck with my Coleman SaluSpa inside. My hubby is 6’4” tall, plenty of room for him to walk without stooping. It has gone through a few storms with high winds. The only issue has been with a little water getting in around the edges. So I can’t say that it is water proof. I will definitely buy another for next Summer if needed. I just don’t like how it has faded. But, I have had it up since May. It is now September.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Weak at the joints This tent sets up very quickly. The joints are off a very poor quality. They crack at the hinge/screw points. Replacement parts are hard to find. The poles are very prone to sticking when you try to slide them. The detents, oval metal buttons, pop out leaving just the hard wire spring. Which apparently means you need a whole new pole. Very well engineered, very poor materials are used in the frame.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke on 2nd Use - So Frustrating! We have 6 young kids and so need an 8 person tent in order for the entire family to go camping together. We invested in this Coleman tent thinking it would be a good long-term tent solution for our family. On just our second time using this tent one of the poles broke. It got stuck and wouldn't extend or collapse. Very frustrating to have this happen on a camping trip with 6 young children! We don't go camping very often so unfortunately we're outside of our warranty period. I looked online and it doesn't appear there is a replacement part available for this tent pole. We can't even fold up the tent now to put it back into the bag and were barely able to even fit the big tent into our minivan with the long pole extended. What a disaster. We invested in this tent thinking we'd get a quality product. I've reached out to Coleman customer support and am waiting to hear back.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LEAKS - BUT GREAT? I will recommend this tent only for backyard - instant fun, RV camping as and add on, or just a couple of dry overnights with a small group of people. My family and I was out camping and got caught in a rain storm. Yes the tent begin to leak along the pockets and middle seam... crazy! I got it from Amazon brand new. Good thing return was simple. However, still a good tent, but stay out of the rain!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I’ve had this tent just over a year (out of warranty by a few months). I’ve used it 3 times. On the second time one of the tent poles twisted; I duct taped it but the roof pole doesn’t extend anymore. I just used it for the 3rd time; another pole twisted and broke off the little metal piece that snaps the extender pole in place. I was ok having 1 wonky pole but now I have 2! Not worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used only 3 times and it's junk and company won't I used it three times and now I am going to have to do some rigging to make it work. Tent is nice the poles suck. 1 month out of warranty and the company won't stand behind their product. The poles extend fine but the tent won't stand up straigh anymore when you extend the poles they just lay over and won't hold the tent up. It still usable it the ceiling is just very low.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Repair parts unavailable We won our 8 person instant tent as part of the roll up the rim to win contest at Tim Hortons. We have used the tent in our mountain camping trips for 5 years, this year we had a part failure, the connector at the Hub. and to our dismay we have searched Coleman sites for a replacement part to no avail. We have a perfectly good tent we cannot use because of a 10dollar part.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete disappointment of instant tent design Low quality and terrible design instant tent. As a repeat customer, who enjoyed previous instant 8 person tent for 10 years, I see that this tent was designe not engineers, but marketers and bean counters. No adequate ventilation during rainy weather, horrible entrance on one side with atrocious T-shaped zippers. All of this leads to moisture accumulation and water leaks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problems with the poles I have had this tent for several years and used it many times. The corner roof pole has unfortunately had the push button that hold it in extended posistion break and render itself useless. I have been unable to find this specific replacement part anywhere, needless to say I am very disappointed. With exception of this issue this has been a great tent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great tent! This tent has been amazing all around to own and go camping with. I have had my family and friends stay with me in this tent and it was nice and spaced out, and never too crowded. I love how easy it was to put up, and had it up in just minutes which made me happy. I like the material, it is nice and quality and feels solid when it is put up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy.& spacious This Coleman tent really stood up to the elements! The setup was easy with a little teamwork. The were 4 of us adults with 2 queen air mattresses, sleeping bags and some bags. We had plenty of room to move around. The first night we got stormed on but the tent was watertight and kept us all dry. Over great product from a dependable company!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t purchase this tent. Do not purchase this tent!!!! Took it out 2 time and each time something broke. First it was the elbow joint. The bolts broke on those. Second time the pole leg rotated and is now stuck inside itself. For the price of this product I thought u was going to get a quality product. Can’t find replacement parts this was a complete waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Twisted poles on top turned it into junk I used this tent twice. The two top poles twisted and locked up. They wouldn’t release so I couldn’t fold it up as they were opposing poles attached to the top. I had to throw it away after using it only twice. I even removed the poles and tried to make them release. No luck . Heavy and only used it twice , only owned it less than a year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great This tent is a game-changer for camping trips! It's incredibly easy to set up and take down, thanks to its instant design. Plus, it's spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a group of eight people. The quality is top-notch, and it provides excellent protection from the elements. Highly recommended for a hassle-free camping experience!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from SUPER spacious and thick but JANKY leg assembly We really needed a new tent. We gave our last tunnel tent to our son so he could use it. We really liked it. We also wanted a cabin tent as it is easier to get in and out of for us middle-aged folks. :) This tent was a good deal on Amazon Prime Day this year, so we bought it. We are camping a few times this fall and I wanted time with it before taking it on a trip, so I test set it up on a nice day. It is spacious! My 6' 4" son-in-law could even walk around with plenty of room to spare. Many "tall" tents are like that but have smaller doors to get in and out. Not this thing. It's really nice and easy to get in and out. The tent material looks to be strong and thick enough to last. The zippers, not so much. Seems are double stitched and I didn't find any bad stitching or huge holds the sewing machine made (like others have reported in reviews). 1. You are NEVER going to get this thing back in the bag. Even though the bag has these threads you can pull out to make it bigger, even with two very strong guys we could not get it small enough to go back in the bag. Meh. Not a big deal. We bought a rolling Christmas tree bag and poof. Problem solved. :) 2. A lot of reviewers over the years mentioned how janky the leg setup is. IT IS INDEED. I bought this anyway as the price was so good and other instant tents didn't have much better reviews. 3. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL OF THE LEGS! Follow the instructions to the letter. There is an order in extending the legs or you will have issues attaching all the clips. Once I figure it out, I was able to put it up fully by myself! That is cool. 4. The legs twist and if they do you are out of luck. The little pins that pop in when extending are poorly made and not strong. So be careful. It will be fine if you don't strong arm it. If it's not going in, check that everything is aligned and that you followed the setup order. That is usually the issue. 5. Once up it feels nice and solid. My concern is that I think setup and teardown will cause this thing to not last long given the quality of the leg material and the way it is setup. 6. I could not find replacement parts. I was going to order extra clips and even legs just in case, but nowhere to be found, even on their site. That's a common complaint as well. 7. The seams are not fully waterproof. I know. That's usually the case with tents. But Coleman advertises as if it is ready to go. Many of the seams are covered by flaps (TOTALLY COOL) but not all and they leaked. So, I wound up sealing every single seam. That should do that trick for years. 8. The windows are BIG. And all around. Really nice side airflow. 9. The roof is not mesh. it is solid. They call it and int4egrated rainfly. I call it suffocating. So far it seems to work fine, but not sure how it will be in heavy rain. I got an extra tarp I can hang from trees to put over it just in case. It really hampers airflow on a muggy day (it was around 90F when I did the test setup). 10. The bottom is NOT really a tub bottom. It comes up about an inch off the ground. That's it. So, if you want something really tub bottom, this is not it. I think it will be fine for our light camping, but in heavy rain, you better ensure you have those bottom seams sealed well. Overall, it was a good deal for the sale price we got on Prime Day. Only time will tell if that spider mechanism holds up or not. This does NOT have a lifetime warranty like other Coleman tents.

It sounds like you might be experiencing an issue with the side poles not reaching the ground without bending the top poles.
Please ensure that:

1- All Poles Are Fully Extended: Double-check that all roof poles are completely extended. Sometimes they can appear extended but might need an extra push to lock into place.
2- Correct Setup: Follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the manual. If you did not see extenders on the roof side for the two poles, there might be a step missed or an extender that needs to be fully engaged.
3- Tent Orientation: Ensure the tent is oriented correctly on flat, level ground. An uneven setup can sometimes cause poles to appear misaligned.
If after trying these steps the issue persists, there might be a defect with the tent.
