Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spacious open and compact packed We chose the Montana 8 for a balance of space vs. packing size. It is very spacious, but you will need to make sure you have room to set it up. We can fit 3 camp pads down and still have room for a small table to store stuff and enough room to dress. I am 6'2" I can can stand comfortably in the main dome area. We like the rainfly awning and there is enough room under it for 2 camp chairs. We have used this in the rain without leaks. We have camped mostly in the summer and spring, the tent does obviously get cold, but with a camp space heater, it stayed relatively warm even with just the rainfly over the mesh in the roof. The hinged door is nice, but the velcro closure rarely works, we end up zipping it closed every time. I think Coleman could have sprung for a few more pieces of velcro and I might add them myself to help keep the door closed. It's not complicated, but it does take a bit of time to set up, lots of poles and rope and hammering of stakes. But, the trade off is that it packs down in to a relatively small bag that can fit in the back of our car with all the other camping stuff. The main problem I have had with this tent is that I have had to repair two of the fiberglass tent poles already. the one around the door, (I don't even know how that split) and one main pole. Coleman doesn't sell a replacement pole, they sell you a kit that you need to build the pole out of. After my second time rebuilding the pole, I'm pretty good at it, but it's still a pain to do. The next tent I get I hope will have metal poles. Overall, I think its a good tent if you are looking for something large, yet able to be packed away in a smaller package for travel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just okay I’d say I recently used the Coleman Montana 8-Person Tent, and while it served its purpose, I have to give it a three-star rating for a few reasons: 1. **Spaciousness**: The tent is indeed spacious, providing enough room for eight people as advertised. However, it's worth noting that this space can be somewhat misleading. With eight people and their gear, it felt a bit cramped. This tent might be more comfortable for six people with their gear. 2. **Weather Resistance**: The tent held up well in light rain, but during a heavy downpour, we experienced some leaks at the seams. It could definitely benefit from better seam sealing and a more robust rainfly. It's not the best option if you anticipate camping in very wet conditions. 3. **Setup**: Setting up the Coleman Montana 8-Person Tent is a bit of a challenge, especially for one person. It takes some time to figure out the poles and get them in place. Once it's set up, it's relatively sturdy, but the initial assembly can be frustrating. 4. **Ventilation**: Ventilation is adequate with the tent's mesh roof and windows, but on hot summer days, it can still get quite stuffy inside. More vents would be a welcome addition. 5. **Durability**: The materials and zippers seem decent in quality, but I noticed some wear and tear after just a few uses. It's not the most durable option on the market. In summary, the Coleman Montana 8-Person Tent is a budget-friendly option that can work for casual camping trips with a group of friends or family. It's spacious and functional but falls short in terms of weather resistance and ease of setup. For fair-weather camping, it can do the job, but if you're planning on more adventurous outings or camping in unpredictable conditions, you might want to consider a more rugged and weather-resistant tent. Hence, the three-star rating.
