Rated 1 out of 5 by Spurlsa from Worst tent don’t waste your $ broken pole 2nd use If I could give this tent, a zero star, I would. We had an old common tent that we had used for 15 to 20 years and only replaced it because we thought it was time to upgrade purchased this tent and used it twice on the second time the pole broke exactly where a friend of hers pole broke the first time they use their tent. Send pictures the Coleman. They obviously don’t care about their quality anymore and decline the warranty, even though you could clearly see the tent looked brand new sad I will purchase off brands that are cheaper. If I have to replace the tent after only two uses whenever purchase a Cole product again I will continue to leave for reviews with pictures of the damage tent. My friend had the exact same pole on the exact same tent break. Where’s the irony there?

The rainfly ripped with the larger of the stones (which is not large by Colorado standards). Ok, just buy a replacement rainfly, right? Nope, Coleman doesn’t sell it. Replace under warranty? I bought this last season but didn’t use it until this year; I was 5 weeks out of warranty. Solution? Coleman offered me 25% of a NEW $200 tent!! If the material/fit of the rainfly is such that hail will destroy it new out the box, I shutter to think of having this tent in someplace more remote with common severe weather such as Yellowstone National Park (where we have camped many times). Perhaps wasting $200 on this tent was a blessing.

This was our first time tent camping and my husband received the ten as appreciation of 10yrs service at his employer. 2 nights early in our vacation there was record setting weather, thunderstorms with wind gusts of 60 miles per hour. The tent held up well and did not leak, tear nor the rain cover come off. We used cots w/sleeping bags and still had plenty of room for our bags, coolers and dog bed. We are so pleased and surprised at how well the tent weather the bsd and good weather. Would recommend for sure

I purchased this tent a few days ago, with the intent of taking my daughter to a campsite where we could watch rocket launches (in 3 days), I wanted to set the tent up and make sure I knew how it went up and came down, I set the tent up last night after seeing rain the forecast for today because I wanted to see how it could handle an average summer shower, it did not fair well I have a puddle in all four corners of my tent, i double checked the rain fly and the guy lines, everything is up to par according to the directions included with the tent and the downloadable version, I took a video of the leaks where they were coming from the seems that were worst affected but unfortunately, there is no way to upload videos here, but I will upload some pictures. and if anyone would like the video to see it is a rather average south Florida rain storm causing these rather large leaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Seas from after 2 years, tent is STILL in PERFECT condition! So far, this tent has lasted 5 trips including camping 3 days in windy Wyoming, and a severe thunderstorm in Colorado. Here's what we've done that's managed to keep our Montana 8 like new: (1) always stake down the tent and use the rainfly (2) put a ground tarp under tent (3) Relax, and take your time with set up/take down (ignore Coleman's silly claim of "15 minutes") and expect at least 30 minutes minimum (4) When threading poles through slots, be patient and gentle (not rough or in a hurry) . Use your hand to gently feed tent material over pole as you inch pole through, and then PULL (not push) the pole out the other end (5) don't stake guylines with excessive tension (6) don't be forceful with zippers (if any of your staked guylines put noticeable tension near seams, OR zippers are reluctant to zip: push on tent wall, or pull tent fabric in the same direction you plan to move zipper, all the while keeping an eye on tent fabric so you don't blindly cause a snag)... These 6 tips have literally kept our tent looking like new, and performing like a champ. Bottom Line: be good to this tent and it will be good to you!

The seams did gather some water and eventually made puddles in the corners of the tent but nothing a little waterproof spray on the seams couldn't fix. The pole for the door broke on the second trip out... Other than that great tent.

Put it up this week to check it out and not only does it have enough room for my entire family to sleep in BUT its tall enough for us to stand up in too without leaning over so our heads don’t hit the top! To really test it out I left it up during a thunderstorm overnight to see if it would leak. Went out the next morning to check it and THERE WAS NO WATER ANYWHERE INSIDE THE TENT! It rained supper hard too so I was expecting at least some water in the floor of the tent! Boy was I glad I was wrong! I’ve always managed to buy tents that leak, so for Coleman to create a product that exceeds my expectations of a tent is astounding! I’m so happy with my purchase and will be sticking to buying Coleman tents from now on!

Big on space with lots of room for a queen air mattress and space for a small table and chairs if you need to escale the weather which we have encountered living in the Carolinas. Only reason for a four star and not 5 is the lack of ventilation once you have the fly qround the side windows. If they were a bit larger. Also, the fly on the sides could use on extra guyline on the side windows in the middle to pull the water off and not allow pooling on the fly in the middle by the side windows.

A few days over a year from purchase date and the side support pole snapped and ripped through the tent causing it to leak on us while raining. I contacted customer service through Coleman and they said the best they could offer was 20% discount code. I should've read more reviews before buying. Looks like a reoccurring issue with this tent.

The reason it didn’t get a 5 star review is that the door pole was missing when we got it. Everything else was there, so it’s totally usable, just not quite perfect. I tried calling Coleman when we first got it, but the woman rudely dismissed me and said that just can’t happen. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed in the customer service. I get that misses can happen, so wasn’t that upset about the missing pole. We do like the tent, so we are currently we use it with a sagging door…

We have a few different tents in different sizes because sometimes more or less people will join us. The Coleman Montana 8 person tent is fairly easy to set up, took us about 25 minutes. Its spacious inside and is durable against water and insects. This tent comes in blue and green and I chose the green color. We bought it on Colemans website for around $290. In my opinion it is well worth it. My children love the space inside and were able to help set it up. There's lots of nice features, including pockets for belongings and nice windows!

Rated 5 out of 5 by KNMV from Great tent for family camping I purchased this for family camping 13 years ago. It has stood up to multi-day down pours, high winds, and hot summer days. It's very spacious and tall enough to stand up in. During one thunder storm we had 10 people inside playing cards and board games. It takes two people to set up but once you do it a few times it goes up in minutes. Nice features are the auto closing door for the kids going in and out, clip on top to hang a lantern, small equipment pouches, and power cord access. I truly got my moneys worth out of it after 13 years of using it multiple times each spring and summer.

It rained and the tent was leaking so badly the inside became soaked. We had to pack everything up and go back home. Completely ruined our camping trip! Do not waste your money on this tent!

We weren’t able to get the tent down before hand. The tent came off the steaks and took a ride with the wind across our yard and to the neighbors. The tent was still together and had a cot in it. The only thing that tore was the rain shield..... it is still under warranty as we just got it in July...

No inclement weather, no windy conditions, nothing. It's just my husband and I, so nothing can make it even better. Now, we go and put everything back in the bag, as we return home, and the band in the main body pole just ripped, now we have three main- useless body poles. What is more the sewing has defects, so I bet anytime soon we will see how a tiny hole will grow bigger and larger.

Tonight proved tent doesn’t last regarding the seams and canopy. In total we have only used this tent 7 times. Light rain where we stayed and corners of one side show leaking at seams with major dripping through top of canopy. A pool of water formed at the end of the tent, too, where the drops of rain were coming in at the seam. Quite disappointed this tent hasn’t lasted us more uses. Now in the hunt for another tent before next week when we have to camp again on our way home.

Based on recommendations of others we decided to go big to ensure plenty of space. Great call! Lots of room, excellent layout, and bathtub seams keep out water and bugs. During the day we stack air mattresses to make a sofa and open even more space. Would definitely recommend!

It rained hard the second trip and we had no water getting inside. The lack of window along the back does make for a warmer experience but keeping the windows on the sides and the door open helps a lot. Unfortunately, the big pole for the door and one of the thicker structural poles have snapped and finding replacement poles is proving to be difficult.

Used it twice and the main tent pole just snapped. No abuse, misuse, or bad weather, it just snapped after the tent was set up. Had to duct tape it for the camping trip and to purchase a replacement pole is a lot overpriced when you count shipping to Hawaii. I may as well buy another tent. Disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Danielle45 from Roomy but has issues I bought this tent a year ago and used it 4 times to camp with my family (2 adults, 2 kids and one dog). This is a large tens so it was not a surprise that this tent is big and heavy. It was a surprise to figure out that it is difficult to get back in the bag it came with. I have not had this issue with the other Coleman tent we own. It's only been properly stored in the bag once and that was after 2 adults folded it and carefully zipped the bag up. It was work to get it in the bag even then. Set up is a 2 person job and takes longer than it should. Even after setting it up multiple times it's confusing figuring out which poles go where. Getting the rain fly in place is also difficult. It is possible for one person to set up the tent but it takes at least 20 minutes. Your fellow campers will start to come by and ask if you need help. Say yes. Once you get the tent set up there is a ton of space inside. We have put 2 queen air mattresses in the tent. One on each side with the middle open which is nice. What is not so nice is that even with all the windows unzipped the tent get very hot very quickly even when in part shade. If you have a little one who needs a mid day nap this tent is not a good option. One of the features that I was really excited about is the door. The kids never properly zip the tent flaps so we thought this swing system would be a great solution. It's not. Even camping in Illinois, the flattest state in the union, the ground is never flat enough to ensure the door would swing and stay closed. There is always a gap even with pushing on the Velcro. The only time the door worked perfectly is when we set it up in our perfectly flat backyard. We have yet to replicate that at a camp site. We have used this tent in all types of weather. From 90+ degree days, pouring rain, wind and frosted over mornings. So far it has held up well. Coleman needs to redesign this tent to have better ventilation, fix the door issues and come with a bigger storage bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by IowaCamper51 from GREAT TENT I bought this tent for my son and I to go on a 2 week father and son camping trip to Yellowstone National Park, it performed way better than I expected, was very easy to set up and take down 15 mins each time, plenty of space inside for us and our gear and the e-port was extremely helpful, had to deploy the rainfly and it was also fast and easy to get up even in the rain! no water penetrated the tent anywhere.

I have yet to try it out now that i have raised the tent about 5 inches off the ground with a platform made of pallets and plywood. Great tent though. Will keep you posted after the next rain. Until then.....

It was ALWAYS so easy to assemble, was up in minutes. Then when the kids were in High school we would go on friend group camping trips since scouting was over. What GREAT family bonding time. It was fun "roughing it" too!!!
