Rated 5 out of 5 by David05 from Great! Chiller cooler from Coleman is a perfect cooler to have and take with you everywhere. The 48QT is big and I can fit lots of things in there. Me and my family love going out on hikes and trips, I can fit all of our food and drinks in here for the day. It keeps my drinks/food cool all day long and the ice lasts long. The color light blue is beautiful and the handles make it easy to carry around when filled up with our things. It can be used as a chair when we need a break too. Love Coleman and I will be getting more coolers from them, they are long lasting, durable and can be used for any occassion.

This Coleman cooler is very convenient for these activities. It's lightweight, easy to carry and hold a lot of products. The handles on the side make it easier to carry and use. It holds and keeps your beverages and food cool all day long and holds plenty of items. The overall quality is very good, it is durable, lightweight and easy to use and carry around, fits in the trunk or is easily placed in the bed of a truck. I recommend this cooler. We are enjoying it this spring.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Wequ from Disappointing design and quality I have used similar coolers from Coleman for over a decade in my food truck and have always appreciated the simplicity of the design and affordability. HOWEVER, I purchased 2 to replace ones that were worn out. I first was disappointed to find that this most recent version does not have drain plugs, making it problematic to drain melted ice while still stocked with drinks. In our application, it isn’t feasible to offload drinks to dump water from the cooler when we need to add ice. Also, after 4 days of use, the lid hinge popped out of place and will not stay securely in place. Previous versions of this cooler had screwed-in hinges, but this version just pops into a recess on the body of the cooler and is not secure. Basically these coolers are useless and I regret wasting money on them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by B Clark from Coleman 48 quart cooler NO DRAIN PLUG Love the cooler. but disappointed that it had no drain plug. Previous purchases of this cooler came with a drain plug. Coleman web site did not say it didn't have a drain plug. I talked to Coleman CS about providing me with 3 drain plug kits (purchased 3 coolers) so I could install the drain plugs myself. CS would not provide the drain plug kits. I am very disappointed in the Coleman company for selling this cooler without a drain plug, then not providing the customer with a drain plug. It seems Coleman is more interested in saving $7 than keeping a customer, that is a lifelong customer of 40 years. I'm not going to let a drain plug keep me from purchasing Coleman products, because all the ones I have purchased over the last 40 years have been excellent products. But selling a large cooler without a drain plug & then not providing the customer with a drain plug kit is disappointing, Coleman you have done better than this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kallmekiki from Heavy Duty, flexible handles, decent insulation & unisex color This Coleman Chiller is Durable, slightly Heavy Duty feel (not cheap or flimsy material) it holds alot and insulates pretty well.. it kept my ice cold for a fair amount of time on a extra hot summer day, I've used it for water, beer and spirits (alcohol) so far no complaints, i love the flexibility of the side handles, its easy enough for one person to carry but even better with 2 people.. it can weigh 1 lady down if there's alot in it, but I'd recommend it, Thank You to influenster and Coleman giving me this product free in exchange for my honest review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by TonyN from Stay cool for days, retains ice well Coleman coolers are my cooler of choice. I have been using a small one for years and love it so much, I had to get this bigger one. It’s 48 qt but slim. Some coolers are really thick outside and small inside. This one is just a tad smaller inside as it is outside, it’s nice and roomy and lightweight. I will be using this cooler for grocery shopping during the summer and also long driving vacation, it’s what I use my smaller cooler for. Coleman coolers keeps ice for days, some melts but not all. If I place frozen things in it, they stay frozen for days too. I have taken 6 and 7 hours road trips with my Coleman cooler and I have no worries. It’s keeps every cold. I highly recommend Coleman coolers and have recommended them in the past. The only issue I have is I’m not sure how long the hinges will last, the don’t seem too strong and also the one from my last cooler broke off. Cooler still works perfectly.

Photos of the product do not show all sides so one could easily assume there was a drain. The marketing feels a little deceptive to me. Who builds a cooler without a drain?!!?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Caye from Big and blue So I just got my Coleman 48 quart chiller cooler and I can't wait to give it a try. I got the light blue color. This is a pretty big cooler for a two person household. Coleman products are always very high quality so I was pretty surprised when my 25 lb dog ran into it, bumping the coffee table and the corner smashed. It didn't affect the interior at all just a little cosmetic oopsie. I don't think it will make a difference. I still recommend this cooler for anyone who needs a good sized ice chest.

Thank you for your great question about the Coleman Chiller&trade; 48-Quart Cooler!
This model uses TempLock&trade; insulation, which combines urethane foam in the body walls for high-performance cooling, along with an uninsulated lid. While the insulation maintains cold temperatures for hours, it does still use foam rather than a gas barrier like CO₂.
So, to clarify:
The internal space and walls are insulated with urethane foam (a traditional insulating material).
The lid does not contain insulation, and there is no CO₂ gas chamber involved in the insulation system
