Rated 5 out of 5 by from A classic never goes out of style Although this cooler was not bought new by me from a store, it justifies being reviewed here by being an all time classic. I had one a lifetime ago, but it proved not to be fireproof, and thus I was left to the whims of inferior coolers for many years. When the opportunity to purchase one at a reasonable price presented itself, I naturally jumped on it. It has since represented itself quite well whenever given the call. It serves as an ice and pop dispenser at family gatherings the majority of the time, but regardless of the task, it's always been up to the job. I'm sure I will continue to enjoy it's faithful service for yeas to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old meets new This purchase was to upgrade to a new Coleman steel belted cooler. The original was purchased back in the 70's. Why do I still have the box? Usually the boxes I have are for items that no longer exist. The price has definately gone up. See photo. The new cooler is of the same quality and I hope it to last another 40 years like the first. Same features only 2 quarts smaller. Both versions made in the USA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bang for Buck Texas Tough! I bought this cooler to carry in the bed of my truck. I live in south Texas. 103°F in the shade about 113°F in the sun. I put 1 case of water and 20lbs of ice on Friday morning. Sunday morning there was still a little ice and the waters were still very cold. The cooler sits on direct sun all day. I've had other coolers that the ice melts by lunchtime. I love this little guy. The no tilt drain, the stainless shell painted green makes it a looker. Metal handles. Man, I bought a cable lock because I get asked about it so much I'm afraid of it walking away. I absolutely would suggest this cooler to friends and family. We'll done Coleman.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks beautiful but leaks, very sad Received this $200 cooler for Father's Day and our first trip out we found that it leaks at the drain plug and soaked our car and luggage. I've tried several times since June 29th to contact Coleman by the customer service form, chat and email without a response. Love the vintage look, but really disappointed in the product quality and the lack of response from Coleman. From the automated system, my customer service reference number is: 27060503

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Memorable and Durable! Having camped since childhood, "Coleman" to me has been synonymous to "Kleenex" with tissue. Back in the 1970s, anytime someone wanted a drink, you commonly heard, "Get it out of the Coleman" or "Light up the night with a Coleman". It was our household name. The new steel belted cooler evokes and holds the same experience I had during my childhood only now my own kids are experiencing It! The cooler colds drinks nicely chilled for up to 5 days...ice water still keeping the drinks chilled. The downside however, is that the latch does not lock the lid down like the real classics did.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly made with a ridiculous price tag! I have been around this model cooler for about a decade and they keep getting cheaper and easier to break. Coleman as a whole does make products worth purchasing but this cooler is a flop. I wish people would stop buying this garbage cooler and read the reviews before having bad experiences later down the road. I know the cooler looks appealing but it does not keep ice for a full day. The latch breaks after 6-8 months. The top will just fall out due to the moisture weakening the glue. And the patches that hold the lid on, will come loose and again another home repair. I have a marine cooler made by Coleman and it is not only better quality but holds ice for 3-5 days easy. It I also priced around 80% less than this model so it’s unfortunate for aesthetics, this cooler is still on the market.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buy a Coleman Marine Cooler instead I have had this cooler for 4 years. I have a Jeep with zero air conditioning or air flow so I need this daily in our typical humid New Jersey summers. I'd return my black steal belted cooler if I could. I would get a Coleman Marine Cooler instead. This steel belted cooler looks nice, but the paint is already rusting 4 years after very moderate use. The exterior dents easily. The ice retention is 2.5 days at the most. Thank goodness there's a drain. This was an impulse buy that I regret. If I'd have done the research I'd have gotten something else. Just because this looks good doesn't means it performs well. Goodluck everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved The Day!! I have always been a Coleman fan since my childhood camping with my family. We always had Coleman camp gear and it never let us down. I inadvertently proved the Coleman durability again while on a recent 4 wheeling trip. I love 4 wheeling and have 2 Coleman Steel Belted Coolers on a rack on the back of my rock crawler. I was attempting a difficult line up this granite slab and the next thing I saw was blue sky. I thought for sure I was going over backwards, but I stopped just past vertical THANKS to my Coleman Cooler!! The cooler miraculously kept me from rolling over backwards. Unfortunately the cooler got bent up pretty bad, but I was very happy to not be laying on my roof. There is no question in my mind that the Coleman Coolers saved the day. Thank you for building a quality product that stands up to the abuse of the rugged outdoors and crazy adventurous people like me!!
