Saving memories
Apparently I have a VERY old model of Coleman cooler (the drain plug had a hinge, not a strap). Not finding my model of cooler in the "suitable for this part", I contacted customer service. They were quick to respond with the drain plug that I needed. When it arrived, I was skeptical, as the two did not look even close to each other. I had to use a pair of pliers (end on in) to remove the old and install the new drain plugs. But the new drain fit perfectly. Once installed, I closed the drain, tilted the cooler, and put some water in the bottom of the cooler, looking for any leaks through the drain. No leaks at all. Good job, Coleman! Thank you very much for helping to save some military family memories.

Even though this part did not say it was for 5286, 5248, 5296, I ordered it anyways, and it fit.

Did not work for the Vintage Coleman ice chest
The diameter of the threads were too big to fit through the hole on the Coleman ice chest that I have. And the threads we're not long enough to reach all the way through to the inside of the ice chest.

Beware! Look for yourself!
I was told, in 2 separate e-mails, that there were no parts available for my cooler! I gave them the photos they requested, and they said no parts, but I found the part on their website!

Terrible Drain design
Love the cooler. It does keep things cool if you precook it ahead of time. I’m giving it 3 stars because of the terrible drain plug design. It’s where you would pull the cooler. First time we used it, it ripped off. Now we have to replace it and hope it doesn’t happen immediately again.

Sending the wrong part.
I have tried to order a replacement drain for an extreme cooler twice ( my cooler model is 8270/8273) and twice you have sent me the drain for a standard cooler (5248/5286). When I placed my order I verified that my model number for my extreme cooler was listed when I ordered and you sent me the WRONG part TWICE. please check to see if you have the correct part for my extreme cooler and contact me with how to exchange the drains you sent me incorrectly.

Coleman is the best
The drain plug arrived and was easy to install. I really appreciate Coleman listing all the models this plug would fit. Our Coleman cooler is pretty old but the plug fits perfectly and has saved us from having to throw out a perfectly good cooler. Any outdoor item we need in the future will definitely be a Coleman. It's great to see a company make quality products and stock any replacement part you may need due to normal wear and tear.
