Rated 4 out of 5 by Happy_Camper from Some good features. Could use minor improvements. I purchased this stove to replace the Coleman Powerpack stove, which has a more round shape. The round shape was awkward to pack into our camping box. The other reason for purchase was that the Cascade stove was also supposed to have a better system for storing the propane tank regulator which was a problem with the Powerpack stove. I like the mostly square shape of this stove, and that the wire grate is easy to remove for cleaning/storage. For the life of me though, I cannot figure out why Coleman chose to place the red ignitor switch on a different side of the stove from the adjustment knob. They should be on the same side, so the whole unit is easier to pack. By placing these two knobs on adjacent sides, it makes the unit as a whole unnecessarily awkward to pack, which is what I was trying to get away from. I didn't think it would be a big issue, but it is. The description of this stove on the Coleman website also talks about the easy storage spot in the unit for the propane regulator. There is a spot for it, and it doesn't rattle excessively when placed there, but when in that location it is not at all secure. It does not in any way clip into place. I did like that the propane adjustment knob had a fine enough level of adjustment that it was easy to adjust down for simmering. Others have complained about the amount of turning necessary to adjust the flame level, but that really isn't an issue. And lastly, Coleman does not provide a case for this stove, or even offer a case for sale. I was also not able to find an after market case anywhere. So, this stove has some good features, but could be significantly better with a few minor modifications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BajaKennyB from Just the addition I wanted for my kitchen set-up I own the Coleman Cascade 3 in1 two-burner stove and this Cascade 18 single burner was a natural addition. So far, after several camping trips, I love both and can't find a single thing to complain about... I count on that not changing and enjoying their use for many decades to come; as I did with my old stove, recently donated. I have a 5-gallon tank and keep it in a 12x12" milk crate to keep it stable. I've purchased a 'Y' to put on the tank fitting so I can run both stoves simultaneously. What I've asked, and not been able to get a definitive response to, is what are the exact fittings necessary to connect the hoses to the stoves rather than the 1 gallon can. Short of taking the stoves and accessories into a store and asking for help purchasing the parts, I've so far been sold fittings I've yet to find a useful purpose... but I've got them! When a few of us have asked here, Coleman's response is to recommend a hose. I've bought the hose, in fact two, but the fitting is not compatible. Much to my chagrin, I've purchased them at sporting goods stores nearest a camping spot, so I''m reluctant for my collection to grow. I'm going to call Cabella's customer service now, even though I was hoping to buy from Coleman. BTW, I was not able to order anything from Coleman as you can order from Coleman but must pay through their parent company, and with two people attempting, and 5 different credit cards, they were not able to process payment. We don't even try anymore, sorry Coleman. Sours a two-generation history. But since I wanted matching stoves (and must say it makes for a handsome kitchen setup) I'm happy with the purchase. That and the Coleman oven! The grates from the two-burner do work on the single burner, but as mentioned, lower Btu rating. There are others, but they all seem to have the same deficiencies as Coleman, basically lighter-weight metal. I've ordered a Huskey plastic bin which I hope will fit both the two-burner stove and carry case. For the single burner stove, I've used a Rothco Musset bag. Near size and big enough for some of the packing cardboard and table cloths, etc to also protect the stove. So far, so good.

Our Cascade 18 1-Burner Camping Stove is designed to work primarily with 16.4 oz. propane cylinders, but it can be connected to a 20-pound propane tank using a specific adapter hose. The recommended adapter is the Coleman&reg; High-Pressure 5-foot Propane Gas Hose and Adapter.

Thank you for your question. Please be advised that the performance of Coleman&reg; propane stoves will not be affected by temperatures above 0&deg;F or -18&deg;C. As the temperature drops below 0&deg;F, there will be a gradual reduction of maximum heat output down to -20&deg;F or -29&deg;C, where the stove may fail to function.

Altitudes above 10,000 feet will have an effect on both propane and liquid fuel stoves. Because of lower air pressure and decreased oxygen at these altitudes, you will experience more yellow flamess and less heat output. The stoves will not operate as efficiently.
