Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best water bottle for keeping drinks cold all day! I can fill this bottle about 1/2 way with ice and top off with water. If unopened, 12 hours later it will still have ice! The more you open it, and the more you drink from it, the more room temperature air you are letting in. If you leave the top open or drink 3/4 of it then leave it for 12 hours, no, you will not still have nice ice cold water. Someone else mentioned that it would not pop open on it's own sometimes. That is true but it's for a very good reason. As ice melts, it decreases in mass which creates a vacuum inside the bottle. The bottle seals so well, no air can get in. When you try to open it, you have to break that low pressure hold. The lock is equally as impressive. I put soda in it once (don't do that). When I popped the top it blew off like a firecracker went off under it and soda went everywhere. The lock and the seal held that well against the increased pressure of the carbonation. Alas, I dropped it or something because the bottom has a ding in it and I am afraid it will scratch my tables plus the handle broke. Don't use the inside of the handle to tighten the top. It puts stress where it's not designed to have stress and will break the rivet. I will be purchasing a new one now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Large Water Bottle [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Contigo Jackson 40 ounce water bottle is a nice bottle to have on hand when I want a large capacity water bottle. I have been using this bottle everyday for a few weeks and have been really enjoying it. I like that there is no straw because I prefer drinking straight from the bottle and not having to wash a straw. The opening is large enough to be able to gulp it but also not too much that it spills everywhere as I am drinking. This 40 ounce water bottle contains about half of the water I drink in a day so I only need to fill it twice a day. Makes it easier to calculate if I am drinking enough water. The large capacity is great for the gym or on road trips. Much easier than carrying smaller bottles or running out of water. The benefits of being made of Tritan is that it is lightweight and won’t shatter or dent if dropped accidentally. There is a useful marking for where the bottle must be filled to for the 40 ounce volume. It would be useful if there were other measurement lines but without making the bottle look more streamlined and clean. The auto pop lid is useful for one hand drinking. There is a lock on the lid but it takes getting used to to make sure it truly is locked. However, I prefer a metal latch so I know for sure it really is locked, especially when I am putting it inside my bag. The handle is useful to carry the bottle around because the bottle is so big. I was scared that a 40 ounce bottle would be ridiculously large but isn’t and looks smaller than it actually holds. It is easy to hold and not too unwieldy. The downside of the bottle size is that it doesn’t fit in any of my car cup holders. I got the macaroon color. I would describe it as a very light blue gray mostly clear plastic body with a gray and light blue cap. The color does make water seem more refreshing and is not too colorful or boring. Overall, the Contigo Jackson is a good option for a large capacity water bottle but the locking mechanism and the compatibility with your car cup holders is something to take into consideration.
