Rated 1 out of 5 by Solcutter from Great design let down by poor build quality I have just received my second 424 stove I owned one many years ago & I have to say I'm not impressed with the build quality considering the high price. The stove arrived with the generator bar (or attachment) bent I've had to carefully straighten it for it to sit in the hole in the main section of the stove enough for the fuel tank to clip on the front correctly. The front latch top hook was also bent sideways & the hinges are that poor quality you can bend them with your thumb they also don't physically connect to the frame. I live in the UK we focus on quality here but it doesn't seem to be the case in the US if this stove is anything to go by. This is the last time I purchase a Coleman product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CampingMan from Solid New Gas Stove Bought this as a replacement for a 1979 Coleman 425F gas stove that has served me well. Since purchase, I have used this stove 6 times including initial set-up/testing at elevations from 1000 ft to 6500 ft. It has worked 100% of the time - no problems. Set-up is easy and it works like any other Coleman liquid gas stove. The gas pump was stiff to start but after a few drops of oil and a few uses it was smooth and pumped with ease. I've seen multiple reviews about the quality not being the same as the older stoves but I have to disagree. Comparing them side by side, there's not much difference. On my new 424, the grate is configured a little differently and connects to the body differently but it works fine and detaches easier for cleaning than the older model stove. The lid on the newer stove is also attached differently but still works fine. I measured various parts and pieces side by side to see if the newer one was made of thinner, cheaper materials. The burner materials were the same thickness and same inner and outer diameters. The cooking grate thickness was the same. The stove body and wind screens were very similar in size and thickness. Stove weight was also very similar. Overall, there's not enough of a difference between the new and the old to make a difference. I've attached some side by side photos for comparison along with a short list of some of the measurements I did. I would definitely recommend this dual fuel gas stove and buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cs14 from GUIDE SERIES 424 2 BURNER STOVE DF C001 I love this camping stove! It’s so nice and it’s pretty easy to use (as someone that has never used a camping stove before). It’s easy to pack up and not hard to clean either. I love that it folds up into a closed box so it’s contained. I also like that it uses gasoline instead of propane. The draw back is that it is pretty big and kind of heavy, so it wouldn’t be easy to bring on a long hike/approach. I am still getting better at using it, I’m used to an electric stove top so this is very different and will definitely take some getting used to. I received this product for free from Coleman and Influenster in exchange for an honest review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Family Campers from Guide Series stoves, hotter & longer run time! Our family has been Coleman campers & boaters for over 55 years. A full tank and a small container of Coleman fuel and your camp has a portable camp stove for an entire trip. Even with a cast iron grill on top or a pot and a coffee maker, you will cook faster and longer than most fellow campers around you. We have a new Guide but also four older stoves still working great going back to our beginnings. A family tradition full of camp cooking photos and memories. We think this proven stove solution is a must have if you are serious and perhaps tired of collecting empty propane bottles.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Responsible camper from Initial issue We had to send it back because the fuel tank would not stay on. One metal holder wasn't bent enough to hook securely into the slot. We sent it back. We bought another one from Bed, Bath and Beyond that had the same issue. This time we used a pliers and bent the metal piece a little that goes in the slot and it was secure. (Nothing in the directions said to do that. We haven't used it yet). But in general Coleman products are great. We love our instant pop up screen tent! I hope to love our Coleman fuel stove and not have all those disposable fuel tanks to throw away.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Skip Austin from Disappointing Coleman dual fuel I had an original 1950’s 425 copper colored tank stove lost in the California fires. I wanted to replace it so purchased this dual fuel one. What a disappointment! The metal housing is so thin the stove was received warped and bent. I was able to straighten it mostly but the lid latch still doesn’t line up right. The tank and burners do work as good as the 425 did. Shipping box was in good shape so can only figure it was shipped distorted. Shouldn’t have to repair a factory new product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by karenb23eb from Excellent campstove! We waited for a cold day to try this campstove since it says it is recommended for temperatures below 40. We used it when it mid 20’s outside. It took awhile for me to get the temperature right so at first it was cooking very slowly. It’s ok since eggs aren’t meant to be cooked fast. Once the eggs were finished I turned up the heat to high for the potatoes. I learned later that I could have set the auxiliary burner to a lower temperature while the main burner was set to high. In essence, the only trouble I had was trial and error as I learn. Overall the stove works great and can fit 2 pans. One regular sized and one small size. Thanks Coleman. Can’t wait to use this on a camping trip!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marcie from Quality decreased This stove model has been around for decades for good reasons. It has traditionally been built to last. It allows for refilling the fuel tank instead of adding more used up fuel tanks to landfills or having to figure out how to recycle them for most other camp stoves available today. I got one of these to replace the one handed down to me from my parents after decades of good use. The new one does not work out of the box. The fuel leaks instead of feeding to the burners. So very disappointed and hoping Colman improves the construction or design to be as reliable as they used to be.

As per checking, It is normal for a Coleman. liquid fuel stove to burn with a large yellow flame when first started. Until the generator assembly is hot enough to vaporize the fuel, the stove will burn with a yellow flame. Once the generator heats up enough, the flame will turn to blue and settle closer to the burner. Under normal use, this can take from 20 to 60 seconds depending on the outside temperature.
